Who has McCall's patterns on sale?

Thursday the 29th at Joanns they'll be on sale. I'm currently compiling a list. LOL

I just posted directions for bows on another thread in this forum.

These are the Cinderella bows I made:

Cindybows.jpg

Such a cute bow!

Minnie2 and Sohappy- Could you please tell me what your names are? For some reason I know the names of both of your children, but not yours.

That is soooooooo amazing. I love the fabric. Where is it from? Is there any chance that after you are done with this that you would consider selling it??? My DD is only 22 months old and so in two years this would be so wonderful for her chinese new year outfit! We are chinese and this year we're celebrating at Epcot! We have gold silk brocade dress for DD and same color silk boys chinese pajama-like outfit for DS to wear - we plan to take photos at Epcot, watch the acrobats, eat chinese food, give red packets and visit with some friends who hopefully will meet up with us there! Then we will go around to all the visiting chinese students who work at Epcot and say Happy New Year in chinese to them!

The fabric is made by Michael Miller. The children fabric is fittingly called "Chinese Children". The stripe is a coordinate in the collection. I got it last year, so I'm not sure if it's still available.

I'll send you a PM!

Those are GORGEOUS! I need to find your thread!

I finished my biggive outfit for Avy.
th_Jan_misc016.jpg

I bought the shirt and then made the skirt to go with it. I hope she likes it. I forgot to take off the sticker when I took the picture. Oops.

I love it! Where did you find that cool fabric?

That dress is beautiful!!! I hadn't gotten that dress yet because of the tie on the side. I can't wait to see what you do for the closure!

Love the walt disney! So cute!

The Tshirt is adorable!!! Does that mean you know how to digitize???

Sue

No, I just appliqued it the old fashioned way. I hope to try to at least figure out autopunch, or at least get it to work on my comptuer after my trip.

Wow! that silouhet is awesome! Fantastic! And I love the t-shirt...where did you get that hoodie?

OMG! This is gorgeous. I love it!

I got the hoody at the Disney Character Outlet (I think that's what it's called) they have one in Las Vegas, at least one in California and they have a temporary one here that comes and goes. Right now it is gone. I'm pretty sure I saw the hoodie originally at Disneyland in the little string of pirate shops at the end of POTC.

I am a little nervous to post my latest with all of the greatness that has been posted on this thread already. You guys are really outdoing yourselves. I cannot wait to see some of these in person.

Here is what I worked on this weekend. the model was less than cooperative (and I found that stupid string hanging down after I took pictures). The pants look wonky in the first picture, but they aren't- the model was ummm asking when I would get the candy I promised. . .

And the newest addition to our family (and because it is safe to show his face since he isnt' wearing a dress)
th_christmas215.jpg

I can't imagine why your model was uncooperative :confused3 :rotfl: Very cute outfit! I love the hats/aprons. Jackson looks like he is going to cook up some Mexican food ::yes:: my favorite! Lily really wanted that dog. I had to argue with her that she has the live version.

Did you just cut the storm trooper out and iron it on or is it sewn on? I have so much trouble with appliques on t-shirts, would love some advise.

I ironed it on with heat 'n' bond lite and then stitched around it. The biggest thing with appliqueing on knits is USE A STABILIZER underneath! I think Heather's applique tutorial goes over everything in detail, but this is the stuff I would not applique without: (sorry it's a bad picture)

DSCN3562-1.jpg

Every thing is STUNNING!!!

Jeanne Nikki walked by and fel in LOVE with the Pirate Mickey sweat shirt and shir! Any chance I could get you to PM me where you got the sweat shirt or at the very least the template for the crammed in the scanner Mickey:rotfl:

I LOVE the Partners shirt! That is my all time FAV statue ever! I love stuff with Mickey and Walt! My kids walk past the statue and tell every one who walks by how much their mom loves it! :rotfl2:

see above for where I got the sweatshirt. I just copied the sweatshirt so I don't have it in my computer yet. I'll try to get it scanned. Remind me if I don't send it to you in a few days. I'm getting a little crazy trying to get ready for this trip! I don't want to be sewing all night the night before we leave like last time!

DH just informed me that I have a problem. He thinks I am OCD - Obsessive Compulsive Disney. :)

I wouldn't call that a problem. :confused3

That sounds like soooo much fun!

Would you mind posting a link to your directions?

Minnie2 and Sohappy- Could you please tell me what your names are? For some reason I know the names of both of your children, but not yours.
Marlo and Stacy, but I may be wrong on the spelling.

You are right Jeanne- my name is Stacy. Though I never correct people if they misspell it. I get Stacey, Staci, Stacie, etc. My last name is very difficult and NEVER gets pronounced correctly. So I am a go with the flow girl!

Thank you Marlo and Stacy. I'm glad that neither of ya'll was offended. I usually have a really good memory with things like that, but for some reason ya'll's names had escaped my mind.

Tom- Thank you, I am going to check my stash and see if I have that one! I have like 3 dresses hanging in her closet that need underdresses for this time of year! But I will have to figure out how to make it smaller, since even the 2s are big on her- but maaaaaybe if its under another dress it wont be so bad? hard to tell with that neck.

I am doing the Feliz- well, I finished the ties.
I want to add ribbon across the chest. Can anyone tell me.....
My ribbon is slightly see through and my fabric has a pattern to it, is there anything I can put behind it to keep the pattern from showing thru the ribbon?

Steph, any chance you'd be willing to walk me through the lettuce edge thing?????

I'm sorry, somehow I aggravated my shoulder and have been spending quality time with my friend the heating pad.

It is SO easy! Just set your machine to a zig zag stitch, and stretch the fabric as it goes through. I never bother with ironing and sewing a hem (when sewing knits) since I discovered it.

I really like how you used the t-shirt. Hmmm, now I'm wondering if Megan is too tall for that to work for her...

That's what I was afraid of too, so I picked the biggest shirt they had. I think even a tunic length top with a lettuce edged bottom would be cute too.

Love the Wiggles! When Jacob was little that was his favorite show. We saw them live!

Those look so comfy, I would like some! Your doll dress still very cute, even if it's not as twirly (dolls can't twirl anyway, can they?).

I know I am late but I vote CUTE! Megan had some that were similar and loved them.

Love! What a cute idea for the neglected boys and you and your hubby will match!

I love the silhouette t's, I will have to try one someday. And thank you so much for making cute things for Jayden that I will have to copy in a few years. It's so thoughtful of you!

I have been back and forth about this pattern and the one thing that was a negative was I didn't trust the tie closure to stay tied. I love the idea of a frog closure and would love to see pictures when you get it completely finished. That fabric is just completely gorgeous and Abby Grace will be too, I am sure!

I'm not a regular poster on the DIS, but I lurk a lot. I don't sew (just bought myself a machine and I'm going to try to self teach) but I can tell that you ladies put some hard work into your stuff, and it is all WONDERFUL! I aspire to be sewing half as good as you ladies in about, 5 years? :rotfl:

One can hope anyway!
Thanks for all the inspiration!
Julie

Welcome! I hope you stick around!

Wow, this is awesome! I really like the fabric, it goes with the shirt perfectly.

So cute! That reminds me, I have a baby present to make. I am not attempting anything that complicated just a rag quilt. I am sure the sleep sack will be much loved!

Poor boy in a dress! Super cute though. Love the chef aprons and hats.

That is so close! I could alter that pattern to do what I am looking for. I was hoping to find one online though. Who has McCall's patterns on sale?

I have that pattern but haven't attempted it yet. It looks so wide and short that it looks like a lot of altering is needed and I haven't felt up to yet. And I think Megan is probably to old for it now.

So jealous of the bow making ability! That is adorable.

I just remembered that Megan has a western themed father/daughter dance in February. They have had a best dressed award in the past so I was thinking of something that looked fancy (but was easy) to go for it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hope your shoulder feels better soon.

The Lettuce edge trick works great! I tried it for the first time a few months ago and was thrilled with how easy and great it worked.
I was able to easily transition some of DS old basic t-shirts into more girly shirts for DD. Thanks again for sharing this :)

I have so much on my to do list this week, but all I really want to do is clean off my sewing table and work on some projects :)
I am hoping to get some chefs hats cut out today at least. But first the laundry :laundy:.

Could you line the ribbon with a piece of solid colored grossgrain ribbon? Would that do what you're wanting it to do?

SO - you just use a zig zag stitch? Do you shorten the length of the stitch or anything?

I'll make sure to post a pic when I figure out the closure. I'm waiting for the inauguration to be over so I can go to the store to look around.

For the western themed outfit - have you considered a patchwork twirl in different western fabrics with a petti under - you could also do a western vest out of CarlaC's new vest pattern with a peasant top under?

I hope that your shoulder gets to feeling better. Did you pull a muscle? or is it just sore?

I was kind of thinking that maybe Jenna might be a little too old for the pattern, but I'm not sure yet. :rotfl:I did some older girls wearing the top over like a peasant top, but I don't think that I want to do it like that. I was thinking that it would be cute for a summer top.

Oh I have to take the hike to the Character outlet by me!!!! It is about an hour away... Or maybe I can convince my mom to go to the one in GA:upsidedow

That would be fabulous if you could do that I would really appreciate it!

Yup you got my name right and even spelled it right too! No one ever does that!

Thank you Marlo and Stacy. I'm glad that neither of ya'll was offended. I usually have a really good memory with things like that, but for some reason ya'll's names had escaped my mind.
Nah why would I be offended? With a name like Marlo no one ever remembers it! Besides I am AWFUL with names!!!!!! :rotfl: :confused3

Oh and I   my embroidery machine! I am embroidering right now!!!!! I will post the picture once it is doe 2 more colors to go!

1) I shorten the stitch and roll the bottom edge under slightly. Just one time around and you're done.

2) I can't wait to see it, that dress is just gorgeous.

3) That's a great idea! I would have to get a petti first though but I have been thinking about getting one anyway. I don't know if I could get one in time though. I was also toying with the horsey cordoroy fabric I already have, maybe a vest and matching skirt, do you think that would be too much?

I hope that your shoulder gets to feeling better. Did you pull a muscle? or is it just sore?

I was kind of thinking that maybe Jenna might be a little too old for the pattern, but I'm not sure yet. :rotfl:I did some older girls wearing the top over like a peasant top, but I don't think that I want to do it like that. I was thinking that it would be cute for a summer top.

I have a little tear in my rotator cuff and just bothers me now and then. I went to physical therapy for it but it didn't seem to help.

I did buy it last summer thinking it would be a cool summer top and never got around to it. Don't you wish you could just give it to Carla and ask her to rewrite and make it better? That's what I think when I get it out and look at it.

Can you share how you celebrate? Any special traditions or anything? Our family celebrates because our daughter is Chinese. But since we are not, we sorta struggle with knowing exactly what to do. So far, our celebration has only included the traditional giving of the red envelopes and going out to dinner at a Chinese food restaurant with other families that have adopted children from China. I'd like to start some sort of tradition, but I just don't know what.

It sounds like you do just about what we do! We do the red envelopes, of course. We also have a big dinner. DH's mother cooks. She makes a lot of fried potstickers to last throughout the evening. And we play Mah Jong, which is huge over in China. It's got similarities to Rummy, but you play it with these little tiles. It's very fun, if you ever want to learn. My four-year-old plays it with us, with help. I don't know how old your kids are. It's probably easier for older children. There's a lot of strategy involved.

Here in North Carolina we don't get much snow, but this morning we woke up to about an inch of it. And yes...they closed all the schools, daycares, churches and lots of businesses!

DSCF0722.jpg

DSCF0721.jpg

And yes...I still have some decorations up around my door. I was going to get it down today...but it is a little cold out.

Hey all! I haven't had a chance to do much but skim this week, but I'm loving all this cute stuff!!!

Shannon got me pondering sashes last week, so I've been experimenting:

In the front, it is regular 2" wide belt...
springsash2.jpg

In the back, it is a big full BOW!
springsash1.jpg

And (mostly because the picture is so cute) here is the elongated portrait peasant without the sash...
springsash3.jpg

To make the bow, the sash has to have some shape to it. I was thinking of making a little freebie pattern out of it, but wanted to get feedback here first. Is the belt part wide enough? Is the bow too big? Should I do a few different sized bows? The belt part is based on waist measurement, so it should fit all sizes.

Thanks, all :goodvibes !

Let's just say those fingers looked a little better before I stitched around them :rotfl2: For Walt's hand I just switched my stitch width from 3.5 to 1.5 and went veeeery carefully.
Thanks so much! You'll probably hear me screaming in UT if I attempt this for my DS.:rotfl:

I finished my biggive outfit for Avy.

That is really cool! I'm sure she'll love it!

Love all your fabric finds-especially the Dalmation print. Your baby bunting is adorable!

Strawberry Shortcase outfit is so cute! Love your aprons and chef hats. Your DS is a cutie too!

So sorry to hear about your shoulder. I've had shoulder surgery so I know how bad the pain can be.

Thanks for the compliments on the PJ's and doll dress. I hope I have time to make another dress as my DD really wants one for her doll now too. She was mortified that I posted a picture of her doll on the internet and didn't tell her so she could brush her hair.:rotfl: I guess I have to make another dress so I can post a photo with nice looking hair.

I have that pattern too and thought the exact same thing-I never used it.
