Closed - Hilton Dntwn Disney Vs Disney Property

Thanks for all your help. We are now booked at Disney SSR for 4ngts(1br) last 3 ngts at Hilton and that seems like a good balance ($230 more for the 4 nights but we also get a bigger room at SSR).

It's me I know but I can not understand why anyone would NOT want to stay on property? DME - Transportation.... Location location location...
Not only can you not use DME but by staying D/S and Hilton - you are not entitled to get the DDP . IMHO - saves big bucks....
ALSO the BC is a beautiful resort.... but that is not a moderate...
DOn't forget too if you take your car to the parks... you have to pay for parking - then take the tram to the park opening... I don't get it... I really love Disney Transportation... only 1x did we ever have a problem. I know I am biased but I would not go any other way....

I am beginning the research for a possible Spring Break '10 Disney World trip. My first thing to do was to start researching a place to stay, and I wasn't even going to consider on site, because of the price and the size of the rooms. We know from experience that we prefer suite accommodations, like Embassy Suites or Homewood Suites (my DH is a HiltonHonors member, due to work travel), because it is nice to put our girls to bed in the one room and for us to stay up watching TV or planning the next day in "the living room." The only reasonably affordable suite at Disney seems to be at a Value Resort, which our children would enjoy, but it doesn't include a free breakfast, and my DH doesn't have any upgrade possibilities like at a Hilton property.

I do understand the ease of the Disney transportation, but we will probably have a car, since driving in our Prius is significantly more cost effective than buying airplane tickets for four. I also suspect we will do other things than Disney, since our girls loved SeaWorld the last time we were in Orlando and there are several restaurants (away from Disney) that we will want to eat at.

I think that every family has different expectations and priorities and that is why there are so many options available and I'm thrilled that there is a place like disboards that will help in my research.

We chose the Hilton for this trip becuase it was $64 a night and we could not get a reservation at any of the Value hotels. I did note that the Hilton is listed as a 4 star and the Values are 2.5 stars. Not that we stay at the hotel that long.

We are going to use the EMH, does anyone know what Hilton gives you to show the Cast Members in the park? We won't have regular Disney Key Cards.

MickeyMaz, when I was at the Hilton in April, we just showed our Hilton room key to get into the parks for the Extra Magic hours.
