Excited to see what this thread will have to offer... not been to WL since 2008 (currently the best WDW trip I ever took) and about 97% sure this is where I'll be vacationing next October!

Cool. :goodvibes It's been years since I've won an award. Yellow is a good color. Free Dining or a good percent off code would tip the balance towards WL. Or a refurb before our trip.

Any word on a refurb happening before June 2012?

We were just there and the room we were in was quite nice. Not sure a refurb is needed...

Anything in particular?

I think we got the room that should have been put out of circulation. Please do not let this bad experience we had color anyone else's expectations, I am sure it was a fluke.

The wall border was falling down, found a lovely toenail that did not belong to use, lots of dust [and I mean a lot not just a few days worth] under the curtains, some strange stuff growing on the access panel in the bathroom, new caulk and grout needed in the bathroom and the mold/mildew/algae growing on the balcony. Room 4079 if anyone is interested. Hopefully all those things were fixed after we left.

Because we paid a lot for the courtyard view with bunk beds, the less than adequate shape of the room left a real bad taste in my husband's mouth and wallet.

It was my own fault for not checking the room before unpacking and my own fault for not taking time out of our commando plans to switch rooms.

This bad experience is in the minority of over all experiences of other guests. Our first two times were a dream.

The news of a refurb would mean there was less time for the dirt and dust to accumulate before out stay. That would go a long way to helping my husband give it another chance. *I* still want to stay here even after that not so great stay. That is how much I love the whole feel and concept of WL.

Cool! New thread and pics. :) Now, I can spend the next few days combing through all the info again in preparation for our first WL stay on the 22nd of August! :cool1:

So excited about the new thread...we are staying at the WL for the first time next summer...staying 10 nights and I can't wait! Thanks for doing this!

I thought the legend was that you rubbed Humphrey the bears nose, not his stomach.:confused3

The Legend of Humphrey Bear and his MAGICAL NOSE.

Humphrey is located in the Lobby and is the Mascot (an animal, person, or thing adopted by a group as its representative symbol and supposed to bring good luck) of The Wilderness Lodge and the Wilderness Lodge Vet's Legend is that if you rub Humphreys Nose at the start of or during your visit to WDW you will be favored with PIXIE DUST and you will have a MAGICAL STAY.

Cool post.... Ill have to come around here more often.....96 more days and we will be at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge...

Yes, yellow goes well with your hair...

I indeed have rehab news straight from the club level manager. The rehab was due to begin in December, but it now looks like it will begin in February 2012. It will NOT be a soft rehab. It will be a top to bottom complete room rehab. Everything will be replaced, including the bathroom fixtures. There is already a model room that the club level manager has seen and he says it is fantastic and everything will be replaced. He predicted that it might take up to two years and will be done floor by floor by blocking off one floor at a time. No word yet on whether they will start at the top or the bottom.

Of course that's the legend and thank you for noticing my error! I must have been hungry when I typed stomach instead of nose:confused3. I really appreciate you catching that:worship:

KOOK - Great update on the refurb, good reason to book a trip for next year once it is complete.

I SHOULD be packing....:rolleyes1 Does it count if I am thinking about packing:rotfl:

princess pas - spoken like a true procratinator, and I should know since I am so good at it myself!

The rooms we saw definitely pretty tired looking - fortunately, Disney refurbs the resorts on so many years basis and after POR is finished, WL should be up next. :thumbsup2 We did hear mention of one upcoming when we were there last November, but did not push for details or dates.

Fingers crossed :goodvibes because I think WL would be the perfect resort for Sophia's first visit - a nice CY room with a view of the EWP. ::yes:: The new Animation Resort will be brand new and a new resort is always fun, but the water lunch to MK would be soo nice and WL is so relaxing. I'm an MK resort kinda gal, but will need a very good pin code to make it happen since we'll require 2 rooms.

Disclaimer: I hope the WATR is a really great group:rolleyes1

Oooo, thank you!!!:goodvibes The only other award I've ever won was for Best Loser at playing games when I was visiting a convent over the 4th of July several years ago. I was bad at everything, even spoons. Heck, for the watermelon spitting contest my watermelon landed about 6 inches in front of my feet.:confused3 Pathetic...must have had a childhood devoid of games.:upsidedow

(what is WATR???)

:wave2:

I am hanging here with ya!!!

Thank you - it's good to know I'm in great company!!! :wave2:

But you're here now!!! :cheer2:

OMGoodness....there goes my sweet tea all over my laptop screen! I laughed so hard my little deaf 18 yr old Maltese looked up at me!!! I can sooo relate!

The news of a refurb would mean there was less time for the dirt and dust to accumulate before out stay.

My feelings exactly!!!!

KOOK, you just made my day!!!:woohoo: I am over the top excited and absolutely MUST find a way to save enough for Sophia's first stay...if only we didn't need 2 rooms.:sad2: (DD just walked by asked how much 4 ngts would be at the WL - I said without a discount $1900 per room ..she actually looked like she might faint. Said she could never spend that much on room and never had except for their honeymoon. My comment was: "Welcome to the world of Disney resorts and hoping for a discount. ;)" Truth is, she is a corporate TA so never pays rack rate for a room. Unfortunately the days of TA 50% discounts at WDW Resorts are long gone. Long gone.

AlexWyattMommy, we have practically the same comment above our countdown!!!

 Hi everyone! Happy TGIF!! :goodvibes

I am not sure what date my family and I will be visiting the Wilderness Lodge but it will be sometime next week after the 17th and it would be on the day when we drive to the Winter Garden Shopping Village. Since we need to drive behind the Magic Kingdom to get there I figured since the Wilderness Lodge is along the way it would be the best time to go there.

Hi all :wave2:

I've just been browsing the old thread and this new one, trying to learn all I can before my first visit to WL!!!!

It's been a whirlwind 24 hours: Got a PIN, booked a room, booked flights, now I'm scrambling to make ADR's because we leave in 62 days! :yay:

Thanks for all the awesome info so far! :worship:

We're currently booked at WL SV, but I'm getting very nervous about that decision. The pictures that I've seen of Standard are horrifying. Do all standard views overlook the service area? Is there a lot of noise for those rooms? Is the view really that bad? Please help! I'm considering changing back to AKL SV, but we stayed there last time, so we were looking for a change.

Hmmm a refurb may just be enough to persuade me to try another stay next year. :rolleyes1
I wish the WLV would get some sort of rehab, even is it's just a soft one.
