Our Magic Bands just came in the mail. Things are finally getting real. Only 24 days until we leave and 27 days until we check in. Things will definitely start getting hectic next week, lots of laundry to be done, shopping, and packing. Can't wait until we arrive!!! Go WILDERNESS LODGE!!!

We are so excited to be traveling to Disney and staying at the Wilderness Lodge. I'm thankful for all of the great info this thread has provided!

It looks like there are several washers/dryers available. Do any of you have a suggestion about when the best time of day would be to count on getting an open washer? Planning to do it 1 time midweek.

Thanks again!!

My parents just booked their first WDW deluxe resort in over 25 years and they chose the WL-I'm so excited for them :) My DH & I stayed there for part of our honeymoon and we loved it. I am hoping they will enjoy their stay as much as we did. They are most excited about taking the boat to MK.

They will be there during the pool renovation (Halloween week), but they have no interest in using the pool anyways. They will be staying in a standard room, so I'm hoping their room will be quiet.

Should they make any requests regarding floor number or which rooms to stay away from? A quiet room is their biggest priority.

Thanks!

We'll be there the weekend of October and we can't wait.

Did your parents book a standard view, woods view room or a courtyard view, or club level? The quietest woods view room we've ever had was the section of woods view rooms in the south wing closest to the lobby, near the Mercantile and exit to the bus stop. They look toward the villas building. The inner courtyard rooms can be noisy, but I'm not sure what they will be like during construction. We are expecting all of the noisiest construction to be either finished or only going on during the daytime.

Thank you :) They booked a standard view. I tried to talk them into a Woods view, but they couldn't justify the extra cost.

That is great to hear that the noisiest construction might be done or during daytime during that week-hoping that holds true. I really want them to enjoy their deluxe experience.

I know this is not the right forum, but I feel like I'm among family :) as a soon-to-be Lodger, so my question is there a way to check daily on either a website or the MDE app on my phone how much I'm spending on the MBs? I remember my shock when I got off the Disney Cruise Line and got my bill :scared:

No there is not (AFAIK)...though you can go to concierge at the front desk and they can print out your running statement at any time. Did that a few times last month, it took less than a minute for the CM to do. You just scan your MB (with PIN) when they tell you and out it comes.

Disney really doesn't want you to know:eek:, which is why they don't just post through charges immediately. They'd say it's a service but really just a way to disguise your purchases. They have already said they have seen an up tick in guest per day spending with Magic Bands since it's just so easy and doesn't feel like you're pulling a card out of your wallet.

Just got back to resort after Epcot. NO Waterfall today!!
And from closer inspection I will be surprised if it's tomorrow.

Thanks so much for the updates! Fingers crossed for you tomorrow! How many Disney employees does it take to turn on a waterfall? Sounds like the start of a joke..

When is the best time to make a room request ( certain wing, floor, etc)? At booking, at so many days out?

Any time from the day you book up until 4-5 days out. Rooms are assigned 2-3 days out, so just as long as it's before then.

My daughter is on a medicine that has to be kept cold. We are fine traveling down and during our stay keeping them in the fridge. I will need to be able to freeze her ice packs before we head home. This is our first trip with the new meds. Does anyone else have this issue? Is there a place at the lodge where they would be willing to put the packs in the freezer a day or so before we head home? Thanks!!

You may actually be able to freeze them in the fridge that the resort provides you in your room. We've had experiences where we've made the fridge too cold, on accident of course, and if froze everything (including the milk, carrots and water bottles). So you may be able to do it that way.

Waterfall update, only 2 people working and water has now been completely drained from pond below and above falls, really looks like they are just starting over!

Eight days to go! I really want to start packing but I don't want to stress my (4-legged) children out. Dad can get luggage down and pack up but if Mom does it's PANIC TIME! SOO excited! :hourglass

Hopefully it will be done by the time we arrive. If not, well we've been lucky enough to stay 6 other times at resorts that were having some kind of construction/rehab! Thanks for the updates.

How is the weather besides hot and humid? I'm hoping for the usual summertime afternoon pop up showers instead of constant rain.

Liz
