Hey everyone! We are still at the lodge at having a great time. We are in a Woodview room and since my 80 year old grandmom is with us, my mom requested ground floor. We have a terrible view of sheets of plywood, but I love the location to the pool and boat dock. My boys love hearing the honk honk of boats and the sounds of the geyser going off. The patio on the balcony is terrible, way too small, but we aren't out there often. My little men have had me so sleepy that I have been going to sleep with them. We have eaten at Roaring Forks and Territory Lounge. I found both to be enjoyable and efficient. The bus transportation to Epcot was awful. It took over an hour! However, I love the boats.

We did have some mega issues with our magic bands, but after 2.5 hours it was all sorted out and everything is working smoothly now.

Overall, we are having a fantastic time! I am excited to swim again today and then head to the magic kingdom!

Good morning! I see you are here with twins! I'm also here with twins but mine are 19. We are heading to MK today as well. If you see a short blonde woman walking between two identical 6 ft boys....that's me

Have a great day. We've had no bus issues at all...been laughing at how lucky we've been. Maybe your bad EPCOT bus experience was just a glitch.

So my guy just said he'd like to do a fishing excursion while we're at Disney and we'll be staying at the WL! I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with them? I'm not sure if he wants to go out on a boat or do dock fishing, but he just loves to fish!

My boys went out fishing. They did the 2 hr bass fishing tour. We had a 15% off coupon in our Magic Your Way package, they had great time. The guide was awesome. They caught 8 fish,

I don't believe there is fishing off the dock at WL. There is at Riverside though.

I am also interested in the fishing exursion. The family we are taking this year over Christmas has a son that fishes from sun up to sun down at home and when I showed him the pics of WL...he was very excited to do both a fishing trip and dock fishing. I heard you can do this over at Fort Wilderness??? Anyone have any info? Thanks!

All checked into The Lodge, and loving every minute so far!! A few things:

If anyone would like me to ask anything...feel free to let me know, I'd be happy to.

Hope you are having an amazing trip so far!

Thanks so much. If you happen to hear anything about the pool closing earlier than scheduled (Sept 3rd), can you please post & let us know? We are scheduled to be there from the 19th to the 26th & DH would want me to switch hotels if the main pool was shut down for any part or our stay, thanks a bunch.

I am currently in room 6004, north wing woods view, and have an excellent view of fireworks. We can see the top of the castle from our room.

Great info......looking for the exact view you tell of here for our Sept trip! Thanks :cool1:

Doug :goofy:

Yet another transportation question! We have two 8:05 am ADR during our trip in October, one @ Tusker and one @ Hollywood & Vine. What time do we need to be at the bus stop to catch one of the early ADR buses for either of these?

We have a similar scenario with an 8:05am ADR at the BC..........not chancing it........planning a taxi ride! :thumbsup2

ETA: Adding this right up front so there won't be any confusion: Thanks to jtowntoflorida for observing that since the survey being used is from 2006, the lines on the survey marking the "pool deck expansion" area are only designating a "work area" and not the new fence line. This explanation makes a lot more sense and answers questions I had about creating new paths to the boat dock. Thank you, jtowntoflorida.

I found the Notice of Commencement Permit for the WL pool construction, it was filed about a week ago. The permit expires 2/15 so all work must be completed before that date. However, the completion date of November 27th is UNCHANGED as of right now. The permit filed for Falcon of the Nile, presumably for pool-related work only, such as the new pool pumps, expires 12/14.

It appears that the jackhammering now is expected to take at least 3 weeks. Managers and CMs are still emphasizing that the work will be loud and intrusive during the day. If you do have the option of staying elsewhere, it's highly recommended that you do so. I was told that thousands of letters did go out to guests announcing the pool work, however, CMs have realized that some guests were missed and CMs and managers are prepared to deal with guests who have any issues that may arise due to the construction.

The fencing will have a gate that will be locked when a lifeguard isn't present, however, unlike SAB/BLT..., I have been told that the gate will not require a MB or KTTW card. This, however, may change. If it does require keyed access, this will restrict non-guests from using the pool. According to the sketch, Trout Pass will be bisected by the fence. It would seem that a new pool bar will have to be built, but will it be inside the fence or outside? It also appears that the outdoor seating may be impacted by the fence. I have been told that the steps to the bridge near Trout Pass and the hot tubs will be made ADA compliant. This would imply that the bridge and path that passes the geyser and leads to the boat dock will remain?

DH did some measuring and converting and it appears the new pool deck will expand almost 20 feet toward the North Wing. This would overlap with the current path to the boat dock and most likely with the grass and trees that are in front of the North Wing CYV rooms that directly face the pool. ETA: However, if the "expansion" shown on the survey isn't a fence, then this path could remain.

I tilted the sketch below to better align with the overhead imagery of the current WL Courtyard.

BLUE = CURRENT POOL DECK BOUNDARY
GREEN = NORTH AND SOUTH WING INNER CY BOUNDARY

So do you read it as this may not be done until Feb 2015?? If so we may decide to stay somewhere else for Xmas this year.

Say YES to the MESS! Well, and stay somewhere else...

Remember I kept asking about the paths around the property? My husband and I like to walk around behind the pool bar and back towards the docks. So it looks like that will not be possible according to the work explanation?

I made sure to BOLD this in my post so as not to confuse anyone on the publicized completion date:

Behind the Trout Pass is a DSA with tables and the beach beyond and a concrete path that leads to the marina and VWL. It isn't bisected by the new fence in the sketch. In front of the TP is the wooden bridged path that winds past the geyser and to the dock. This is the bridge that I've been told will be made ADA compliant and therefore, I'm assuming, will remain after the pool rehab. However, if you look at the sketch, this area is within the construction area and it and TP will be closed during the construction, but I thought you were booked at GF?

I just got a letter in the mail today showing my reservation for WL for our first arrival night room only and the price. It is showing a 58 dollar decrease in price so we now have a resort credit. I called and asked for the 50 dollar credit a few weeks ago but now it's 8 dollars cheaper? Just wondered if they are lowering prices because of the mess? Also we still have not received any formal notification of the pool closure. If not for these boards I would have no knowledge... How is that right on Disney's part?

That line is NOT a fence line...that's simply the boundaries of the area that is covered by the permit.

Maybe the extra $8 is tax? IDK and I can't answer your last question, but I do know that "for some reason" some guests did not receive letters even though "thousands" were mailed out. Maybe there's a pattern to those who didn't receive letters such as the method of booking such as Expedia or Travelocity, for example:confused3. IDK, but it's good you read about it online. At one time it was mentioned on the Disney booking site for WL bookings, but IDK if it's still there or if it was removed.

So it isn't the expansion of the pool deck area? How do you know that it couldn't be the fence? It seems it would have to either be the pool deck or fence. Are you saying it's just an invisible boundary line? Sorry I seem clueless and thank you for the insights. If it isn't fencing then could paths still remain?

That is just a survey showing the pool deck area. If you look at the date on it, it was actually completed 1/24/2006. Are you sure that drawing goes with the current permit? It seems to me that relates to work completed in 2006?

Also, the permit says it's for "general construction" not specifically a pool deck expansion. It could be they used an old survey from 2006 to answer item #1 on the permit application (general description of the property) since the legal description is on there.
