It pays to keep checking for availability.
We had to change our reservation back in November from CL to a Courtyard view and the only availability was the Late Winter Offer, so we took it.
I had been looking at out dates, just to see if anything had changed, and today I lucked out!
They must have released more CV rooms into the Passholder Discount, so I called and had it applied.
Saved us $125 off 6 nights :)

I just hope with all of the construction kerfuffles they keep having that the resort looks and works somewhat normal by the time we get there!

Is the construction finally complete, or are they still running behind schedule?

They are literally working around the clock. We came back from MVMCP last night after midnight & they were working hard on the Splash pad area - fwiw - it looks to be very near completion ;)

Looking at photos of Wilderness Lodge rooms it appears there are no sitting/armchairs. Is it possible to get one and if so, how would one request that? I'm asking because my husband tore some abdominal muscles that are taking forever to heal (might be a six month thingy). Sitting up on a bed is incredibly uncomfortable. Regular chairs are o.k. but don't allow him to quite stretch the muscle area properly. Just thought I'd ask about opinions on if it might even be possible. I realize it would make for tight quarters, but I think it would help my husband out. Thanks in advance for any info.

Not sure if you got many suggestions, but a few years back we had to figure out something for my mom. She sleeps in a recliner because her knee gets out of alignment otherwise. Anyway, we rented a reclining lift chair. We stayed at two rooms at Pop (we put it in a room with a king bed), so I can't speak to how they would fit in your type of room. We rented it from care medical; they were very nice. They delivered and picked up. I think it was around $150 for a week. Well worth it to keep her mobile. I think other places that rent scooters and such also have them available. Good luck!

I never noticed until I needed one that WL has so few tickers available compared to other resorts! Wonder why:confused3

Still trying to pick something:duck:

Came back to say this will do!

Thank you for the info and the picture too!
You're welcome, wollydoodle, glad I could help.

Just returned from a quick weekend and booked our bounceback for July 23-Aug 2. Could you add us to the log?:cool1::cool1:
Yippee for booking a BB!

We are home after a VWL stay of Dec. 1-7. I wish I could report that the construction didn't bother us on our trip, but it did. Too many small things closed added up to a larger impact. The hot tubs were closed, the main pool opened, closed, and opened again with no heat, and I'm hearing the slide wasn't working? The seating area off the lobby was closed because the scaffolding and tarp covered it, the look-out area was closed, the nature trail was closed, the geyser wasn't functioning, the beach was very much impacted with huge construction walls and equipment, and of course, the splash pad wasn't finished. There were a lot of construction workers on the splash pad and the lobby exterior, construction equipment, and it was noisy. When I first heard about the pool rehab, I was afraid of this, and unfortunately, it came to pass. It was supposed to be completed the prior week, but wasn't.

Maybe I would feel differently if WL were my go-to resort for trips. I think it's easier to forgive these things if you've had great stays at other times, but this was a first and only for us. The lobby was beautiful, as was the villas lobby. The studio was too, but the exterior was a pretty big turn-off for us. We would go back to the Epcot resorts when we visit again.
Thanks for posting your review. There's a Disney resort for every taste so I hope your next stay in the Epcot Resort area is more to your liking. Just be aware of the upcoming SAB closures and YC/BC rehabs. BWI just finished a room rehab and I'm not aware of more upcoming rehabs there.

I keep forgetting to post, but we're headed back to WL again this summer. July 14 - 21. No one wanted to try anywhere else, lol.
They know what they like and they're stickin' with it:thumbsup2

Gosh - I am getting really concerned with all the construction and closing of areas at the WL. I sure hope it's finished by March. I'm planning a special trip with my son - may be our last trip together before he heads off to college. We have never stayed at WL and I was really looking forward it it. I will say with the rates that I am paying I will be VERY unhappy if the pool isn't up and functioning properly, the beach is closed, the geyser isn't working and there is scaffolding cover areas and making them not accessible etc. It's making me second guess my choice.
The pool is open, the new splash pad and existing WL hot tubs are slated to open 12/14 and the beach never fully closed - only the portion with the playground is closed to allow construction vehicles pool area access. I think I've seen scaffolding at every resort at some point. It's needed periodically to makes repairs and paint. It's unpredictable so it can happen at every resort, at any time, but I don't think it would ruin yours and DS's trip.

There's only a desk chair, but digiMom has a great idea. I'm fairly certain WL can't provide an easy chair. Only the two Suites and 25 Deluxe rooms have them.

What type of to-go items does Roaring Forks usually have for breakfast? In particular I'm interested to know if they have yogurt.

It's an essential item for us & I'm wondering if we can find it in the resort, or if I should make a grocery order.

Light 'n Fit blueberry and strawberry were available this summer at The Mercantile. I don't recall the RF flavors. RF also has fresh fruit cups in the fridge and pastries next to the fridge. Cereal and whole pieces of fruit are also available at both locations. Bread, butter, pop tarts and peanut butter are available at The Mercantile.

Hi, I have a trip planned in January and would like to request a room. This is my first time to stay at WL. I booked a Woods View room. Is this the thread that I should post in for advice on what area/rooms to request?

Thanks so much, I have not been to WDW since they started the FP+ and have found that I have been a lot more stressed about the planning of this trip than our last trip. I totally forgot how important it is to request a room location! eek.
You're in the right place. Welcome to the thread and the DIS!

Just confirmed that the TA Refurbs list says it's closed May 15-June 26, 2015.:confused3
Thank you for verifying this closure.

Between booking on Orbitz and arriving early enough (before 11:00 a.m.) that we will be happy with an available room, I am leaning towards not making any requests. We are new to the lodge. Are there bad Woods view bunk locations? It looks like everything is easily accessed from all locations. I don't mind a patio, as we have young kids that like to play on them, but balconies are good, too.
Most prefer the North Wing and some prefer 5th floor and below because none of those rooms have solid balcony railings.

What a great suggestion for the OP. Did you confirm with POP prior to ordering?

That's why I make my own;). You can upload your own photo to make a custom ticker @ **************

I emailed IPO to see what they had to say about the construction and got this reply (we arrive next Friday 12/19):

Howdy!

Thank you for your email!

We are anticipating the hot tub and aquatic play area to reopen by the time you arrive. The Silver Creek Springs Pool has not closed again, but periodically is not available if cleaning is needed or chemicals need to be balanced.

The beach, geyser, and trail to Disney's Fort Wilderness Cabins and Campgrounds are still impacted and we are not expecting those to be fully reopened by the time you arrive.

If there is anything else we can assist with before you arrive, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Happy Trails,
William

So we can't walk back and forth to the campgrounds either? We have two outings planned there....Hoop De doo and Trails end.

Doesn't sound like it. We have those things planned too, and a sleigh ride.

Thanks KOOK! I changed my ticker!

Also I only just noticed the updated menus for cl lounge. Does anyone know if desserts are the same each night or different? Love my dessert and wine :)

I'll be at the Villas tomorrow and will post an update tomorrow afternoon with some pics.

Anything specific anyone wants an update on?

We are doing the sleigh ride as well. I think I am going to make a few calls. I'll let you know if I find anything out with any validity at all.

When we were there last week, they alternated between a Berry and Apple Cobbler.

Where are the updated menus listed? Is it different than what is shown via the links on the first page of this thread?

The nature trail that begins near the bike rental is closed. The paved trail that begins near the bus stop is open.

Have a great trip:)

I missed it many times!! It is right there in RED " Most recent menus posted here"

The date is 7/14. Maybe you caught the link but I missed it several times. Either way glad its there.
I think right above the menu.

Had the most incredible trip! :cool1:I just want to turn around and go back! We stayed club level and the CM's were all super helpful. We did stay in a deluxe room, so we weren't on the 7th floor. We did feel far away from the action, but we have 5 kids and it was the only room that fit us. Next time, we will go for 2 regular adjoining club level rooms. Got to start saving!!;)
I'm hoping to go at the end of January 2016. I need something to look forward too and that way I can slowly pay off the trip.
The construction and pool closure was a little depressing. So was the great tease of what looks to be an amazing splash pad! We did get a $50 credit for the day the pool closed down (that was december 4) and we ended up going to the Contemporary for marshmallow roasting and a night swim in their pool. My kids missed the WL marshmallow roasting, which they loved to catch after a day at the parks. We ended up swimming at the Contemporary twice, it was quite the trek, but we did it!:cheer2:
Thanks to everyone on this board. I checked out the Poly and the Contemporary and I can't imagine staying anywhere but the WL. Thanks for welcoming me onto the board. Officially Obsessed!!:rotfl2:

Would love to see some pictures of the new tables in front of the trout pass bar! I'll be there monday and want to pick out a seat!

Update for today ........
Lots of construction workers working on the splash pad .........and some without shoes and socks !!! Water is running in the splash pad and they are doing some testing. Havent seen the bucket filll yet, but here is water running around the base, and down the slides . Shouldn't be long now.
They are planting a medium size tree next to the splash pad area right now.

Pool is closed again, with filtration equipt in the pool . Hot tubs are still closed .

Hopefully they will get this all sorted out soon !
