Kathy Z- I hear you about the steps. Where we stay in Muskegon- where I'm from- there are only about 30 steps and we still think for awhile before we go back up. Do I really need that pop? Hope that you had a wonderful time with family and that the weather cooperated :). We were back over the 4th and the last part of that week was even miserable at the lake !

LuvGoldens, we had 2 ipads in the safe last year which each had a leather cover. It was tight, but they both fit, along with a small itouch.

Thanks so much for the info!!

It looks good, but we will be there on the 8th with two iPads, one of which is in the big Otter Box Defender case. In two weeks we'll let you know for sure. We will stick them in and take a picture. In general we won't be too worried about it though. We have left laptops out with no problem, but if they fit there's no reason not to stick them in the safe.

That would be great, thank you very much!! Enjoy your trip

The weather was perfect in SE MI last week :).

We woke up to very much needed rain at home this morning. I've unpacked, done laundry and gone through snail mail. Next vacation is WDW & Sanibel Island, February, 2013 :cool1:. Just DH & I on first part and with my sisters and their DH's on the second part.

Do King Bed rooms at the Wilderness Lodge have daybeds/futons?

I'm trying to figure out what I want to do for a potential trip in January, and I remember that the room we stayed at in the Animal Kingdom Lodge had a king bed and a futon. We'll be traveling with a 2 1/2 year old, who won't likely fit in a pack'n'play anymore, so it would be nice if we could still get a king bed, but have somewhere other than the floor or with us for him to sleep if the pack'n'play doesn't work out.

The regular Wilderness Lodge king rooms don't have a daybed or futon. Perhaps they would in the Villas, but that is different. For our almost three year old we are going with the two Queens and bed rails, which Disney will provide.

You're kidding, right? That sounds positively horrid and I adore Eggs Benedict. Maybe because I adore Eggs Benedict is why it sounds so horrid.

See, I actually went the opposite way. I love eggs Benedict, and trying it a new way intrigues me!!

I was intrigued as well. I have not eaten at trails end before, but I think I will add it to the short list of places to try.

It is with heavy heart that I post this. My WL Girls Trip for October has been changed to POR. :sad1:

AP rates came out today & 4 nts at WL was $1240, 4 nts at POR $588, I just couldn't justirfy the extra cost for WL.

Now - our 4th friend got called for federal jury duty during our trip....soooooo.....if she can't get excused we're back down to 3 people, and we will switch the ressie back to WL bunk. So there's a glimmer of hope...

BUT HAVE NO FEAR!! I plan to take my sons for MLK weekend in January & we all will stay at WL come heck or high water!!!

Must...go...change...ticker...

Trying to convince my DH to stay at WL in Feb. What are some highlights of the resort for me to tell him? I've never stayed there myself.

A few of my favorite things
1. It is in my opinion the most peaceful resort on all WDW property
2. They have the friendliest and most helpful staff
3. It is less expensive than other deluxes.
4. Love to take the boat to the Magic Kingdom
5. Love to sit on the dock and watch the Electric Light Parade
6. You can book a woods view room on a high floor on the North Side and see the MK fireworks.
7. LOVE the smores cupcake at roaring forks
8. Love that all hallways are interior (no running around in the rain to get from lobby/restuarant to room like in the moderates.

I have stayed at many of the resorts and this is my favorite.

You will likely get a lot of responses with what everybody loves about WL, but here are a few that give it appeal to me.

1. I love the secluded feel of the location, while still being relatively close to MK and the Monorail. The walk to Fort Wilderness is very nice and it makes you feel like you are in a very rural location, not right in the middle of Disney World.

2. Being on Bay Lake gives you great views and boat recreation options. Renting a Sea Raycer or bigger boat for an hour or so and going out to explore the lake is great fun.

3. The resort is all under one roof, so despite being one of the larger hotels I have stayed in, it is easy to get anywhere with inside hallways. You don't have seperate buildings or a resort bus to deal with.

4. I like having the boats as a transportation option, not just to MK, but to FW or to the Contemporary to hop on the Monorail. Also, you do have the option of busses to Epcot, which monorail resorts do not.

5. The WL is one of the cheapest Deluxe hotels, which makes it a bit of a bargain for us. I know there are cheaper options, but there are also far more expensive ones, and the WL gives us some great amenities at a better price than other Disney Deluxe hotels.

6. The hotel itself is really impressive to see. The lobby is massive and beautiful, and the theming flows through the entire resort. I still get a kick out of how a spring starts in a lobby and appears to flow as a river down to the pool area and eventually Bay Lake. Check out the pictures on this thread and the WL photo thread, it really is impressive.

Good luck and enjoy your trip planning!

Somewhere back in the recesses of my memory, I thought I read that there were no standard rooms that are connecting. Anyone know if that is accurate? Also, any ideas on where to find a room map that lists connecting rooms? We are considering upgrading to Woods view but would like to know what our options are as connecting rooms are our biggest priority. Thanks!

No, the villas do not have futons or day beds. The studio will have one queen bed and one double sleeper sofa. The one bedroom will have a king sized bed and queen sized sleeper sofa. The two bedroom will have a king bed, queen sleeper sofa and either two queen beds or one queen bed and one double sleeper sofa.

Here is a room map, but it is not too clear which are connecting rooms. Since king HC rooms are usually connecting, there would be standard connecting as well - although it would likely be to a king, not a room with 2 queen (a king connects to a room with 2 queens). KOOK might have exact info. :)
Hope this helps!

When I asked this question back in October 2011, I was told that connecting is not an option for Standard rooms. I booked Woods view and requested connecting rooms with my parents which was an option with that view. When we arrived at WL on 1/22/12, we were upgraded to two Courtyard view rooms pixiedust: and they were connecting.

The rooms we had were 5161 and 5163 if I recall correctly.

The one thing that I absolutely LOVE about WL is that fireplace.
We stayed at WL when it first opened way back in the 90's and my sister and I sat in those rocking chairs right in front of the fireplace at 2am and just had sister time. Every time we go back its one of those things that we do. I love the rocking chairs on all the floors that you can sit and look down at the lobby and all those quiet spaces all around the hotel Agreed it is one of the most peaceful resorts to stay at.

Hope you get to visit!!

Just throwing some refurbed room pics up here as the question comes up about 5x per day. :goodvibes These are from last month.
