...A funny thing happened at Captain Cook's at the Poly today. We had gone over there for lunch and this lady was trying to fill her four non-resort mugs with Coke. It wasn't working for her and she couldn't figure out why. I told her that there was a sensor in the machine and if she didn't have a rapidfill mug, she couldn't get a drink. Her mugs were from an outside resort. Maybe the monorail resorts will have a whole lot less non-resort traffic now. The volcano pool had very few people in it, too....

So the new system is working. :cool1: Disney will be saving money. Maybe prices will go down. ;)

Someone had said that the employee parking lot was a good place to view the fireworks - but they were wrong. Last night I headed over there but there were so many trees that the view wasn't very good at all. There is a wire fence at the outside borders of the parking lot and a lot of vegetation is growing all over it. The view of the fireworks from the beach is pretty good. So if you don't have a view from your room, the beach is a nice option. :)

The KTTW card would not pull a paper fp. We haven't tried the AP yet. I've been afraid that I would mess up the MB's if I tried to use the AP. But since tomorrow is our last day, I'm going to try the AP and see what happens.

Thanks for the info. It's better to know in advance and be prepared.

Some questions in red:
Unfortunately, I was disappointed in the room when we got in it. We had booked a woods view room and I had requested an open balcony and the north wing, neither of which we got. We got a closed balcony on the south side and we are right above the Cub's Den. It is nice and wooded here, though. I'll post some pictures later. The luggage hadn't arrived yet either, and we had landed 5 hours earlier. I guess that's what happens when you arrive on a Saturday during the holidays.
Did you do online check-in? I guess if they don't have the rooms available, there is not much that can be done.

So DH and I decided to check out the Territory Lounge. That really helped to relax us a bit.
Did you have anything to eat or just drinks? We're thinking of hitting the lounge on our first night too!

We were walking toward the beach when we smelled the campfire. It was marshmallow roasting time.
Do they offer campfire every night? Is this the one at FW or is this at WL?

Tomorrow morning we are walking over to Fort Wilderness for breakfast at Trail's End. I got a lot of things checked off my WL bucket list today.
We're planning on Trail's End too one morning.

And the Bounceback calendar is in the Be Our guest book in the welcome packet that is in the room. It is 35% off deluxe villas and resorts, and 30% off moderate resorts. I will post a picture later.
Yes, please!

We did online check in which didn't give us an option to request the north wing.

Just a little update. We are on day 5 of 8 and the WL is quickly becoming our favorite resort. As much as we love the GF and Poly, there is something about this place that feels like home. We have a nice view of the fireworks, the CL staff has been awesome, love the food in the lounge, and the decorations are great. We are close to canceling the YC and returning next October :)

Glad you are enjoying your stay. We love the WL and the CL. I can't imagine us staying anyplace else. I've stayed at many other resorts but love everything about the lodge. Did you have the salmon chowder in the lounge? That was my favorite!!!

We feel the same way about the WL. We booked the bounce back for Oct for WL rather than the BC. :)

Are you still there? The same thing happened to us once at YC - no greeting when we arrived and we were told to check in downstairs. Half-way through the process, a CL runner "discovered" us and took us upstairs. I'm sorry your arrival was confusing and your check-in delayed. They must have been quite busy upstairs or perhaps the guard didn't alert them of your arrival:confused3

Not still there - did one of our usual quick trips. The check-in snafu wasn't a big deal, but I have no idea why they didn't just complete our check-in downstairs. Would've been faster. :confused3

To those there now or soon, I highly recommend the Territory Lounge for a relaxing drink & bite to eat. We always make a point to go there when we stay at WL. This time I had a bowl of the Artist Point portobello soup and we shared the flatbread & crispy chicken. All were great. And I most especially recommend the heather & honey sidecar. :thumbsup2

You can get AP soup there?!? Do you know if children are allowed to be in there with an adult? We will have a 10 and 12 year old with us, but I would love to visit while we are there.

Hmmm.....interesting about the KTTW card not pulling FPs. We are here now and yesterday, 12/3, I was able to pull fps at MK for Barnstormer and Winnie the Pooh. We haven't needed to try at other parks yet, but our cards most definitely worked at MK yesterday. I should add we have been using the MBs for park entry.

Kids are allowed - we take our son with us, he just turned 8. It's definitely a more chill, adult atmosphere, though.

I had the heather and honey sidecar. It was stronger than I'm used to drinking, but really smooth.

I don't know why it wouldn't work for us at MK. We tried it at Buzz Lightyear and it wouldn't work for us. :sad1:

The campfire is every night on the WL beach. It is located just off the pathway between the Trout Bar and the water. You will get an activities calendar at check in that will list the times of the campfire, the pool party games, and the movies.

It just so happens there's a thread where I can post your BLT dates;). Let me know when you know.

We are switching. Please remove me from the Lodge Log; I will post in the CR/BLT thread to be added to the Log-orail!

I am not in a good mood this morning...
I think about the Wilderness Lodge twice everyday

our whole 16-days-Orlando-vacation in September was the best time I had this year

now it is cold, my skin is as white as a piece of chalk, I feel tired of my daily routine (working, studying, ....)

Would love to take a break and book a few nights at the Lodge, but this is too far away from everything now and takes a lot of initial planning ahead

I am looking forward for Christmas :santa:
hoping to feel better tomorrow

bama belle, good morning. I am happy to answer any questions. First off it is a long walk to our room from the cl lounge, especially since our deluxe room is on the 4th floor and the lounge is on the 7th. The room is pretty quiet though, the only loud thing we hear is the nightly water pageant which after the first night or 2 can be a little annoying. Our boys laugh every night saying "their back" when it starts playing. Truthfully we dont even hear the boat horns at night. We are in the wing closest to the villas side. Now after all that being said I love this room and view and wouldnt change it for anything. Our first night on property we stayed at port orleans french quarter just because we got into town a day early, while it is a nice resort I couldnt wait to get to the wl

Well all good things must come to an end. We have checked in our bags and having our boarding passes for our flight. Just sitting here enjoying a little breakfast in the Old Faithful Club. The CL staff have been great, and as always the WL has been spectacular and we loved our room, #7121.

The trip was great, I only wish the parks were not as busy as they were. I was not expecting this crowd level. The MVMCP on Dec 3 was sold out and was very difficult to great around. We found the FP+ to be at times very nice and at other times a complete cluster mess, but that is another story for another day. :)

We arrive at WL CL today! Squeee. Waiting at Chicago airport to catch our flight! Soooo excited!

Can anyone tell me how many club level rooms have bunk beds or what our chances are of getting them with a request? Thanks!
