More wondering what views will not be available at the time we arrive. Looking to know what my room options are :)

Well if they close one floor at a time then all views should be available. The only thing that wouldn't be available would be that particular floor they are refurbishing.

We are staying in a 1 bedroom villa in Nov. I called DVC today and they asked me if I wanted a pool view or garden view. I need to be close to an elevator- so which one should I pick??

I *think* you want garden view, though I've never stayed in either category. I'm using this map - http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/boardwalk.htm - to make that judgment. The reason I say garden view is that I think garden view is the part of the resort that looks out into that area of open grass, where the stairs to the lobby are and the boats to the other resorts and the studios and Epcot are. On the map, I think it's the area right where #21 is located. As you can see, that's about the area where the elevator is. Pool view, I'm pretty sure, encompasses that whole area on the other side of what I'm thinking is garden view and so you could technically end up pretty far from the elevator. It may also include a view of the quiet pool, and that too might end up pretty far away.

Honestly, I doubt that either view is going to guarantee you close to the elevator. Your best bet is to make the proximity to the elevator your main request. As far as views go, I guess it depends on whether you want to look out your balcony and see people in swimwear or going to/from the parks.

We are staying in a studio sv sept 14-18. Are there studios on the 5th floor? Where would be a good location to request? Closer walk to Epcot? Closer walk to HS? Closest to buses?:confused3
The Touring Plans Room Finder shows 5 SV Studios on the 5th floor.

We changed our dates again. My husband surprised me last night with adding an extra day onto our trip as an anniversary gift:hug:. Now we are staying 10 days in Disney! Yippee!!

GF-CL 7/24 to 7/28
BWI 7/28 to 8/2
Adding an extra day is great! I'll update the BWB.

We have met some wonderful folks at various WDW resorts over the years, but today we were pleasantly informed by a couple whom we have met a few times at the Innkeeper's Club that they altered their schedule to have it coincide with ours at the BWI in October. :goodvibes

It's six months from now, but we look forward to cross their path yet again.

Anyone one else ever meet fellow guests at the BWI who made your stay more enjoyable?

All the best. :thumbsup2
Welcome to the thread and it's so sweet of your friends to adjust their stay to see you. Are they also on the DIS?

Very excited to say that we are staying in 92 days from 7/27 to 8/1. This is our first foray into a deluxe.
Congratulations and I'll add your dates to the BoardWalk Bulletin.

How do I add photos ? From iPhone ? Thanks new to the disboards

Had a great stay the last 8 days at BWV! our BW view was great! the studio was very spacious for the 4 of us no issues at all. Loved the fireworks we could watch from our balcony. We were right above Big River Brewing.
You'll have to book another stay soon;)

I cannot recall if I ever notified the thread once I made firm plans. We'll be staying at BWV 11/5 - 11/11 for a much-needed Honeymoon trip! This is the first time I've ever stayed on site.
If you aren't already in the BWB, I'll add your dates to Post 1.

I am 31 days from my first time stay at Boardwalk Inn. I have seen alot of updates about construction. Is there certian areas I should be aware to stay away from when making requests for room?
This is from Post 1:

THE INNKEEPER'S CLUB WILL BE CLOSED FOR RENOVATION FROM MAY 12 - JUNE 13, 2014. CLUB LEVEL ROOMS ARE NOT AVAILABLE FOR BOOKING DURING THIS TIME PERIOD.

From AllEars:
The Boardwalk Inn will undergo a room refurbishment from approximately May 4 through September 9. All guest rooms will get new carpets, new tubs, and new bed linens. The Innkeeper's Lounge (Concierge club level) will have some upgrades as well.

WDWKOOK's Rehab Ramblings:
The BWI room rehab is slated to take 4 months. There are 5 floors at BWI and we know the 4th floor will be closed for one month beginning about a week after the rehab begins. We can infer that they are starting on the 4th floor (CL) first, unless they are working simultaneously on other floors. But, at WL and VWL, for example, they only worked on one floor at a time. That leaves about 3 weeks each for the 4 other floors. Generally, they work from the top down and usually the CL lounge is on the top floor. At BWI, the lounge isn't on the top floor, so my guess is that after they complete the 4th floor they'll then go to the 5th. This is just a guess, but if they do proceed to the 5th floor after the 4th, the schedule might look something like this:

May 12 - June 13: 4th floor and lounge - confirmed.

June 14 - July 5: 5th floor rooms?

July 6 - 27: 3rd floor rooms?

July 27 - August 17: 2nd floor rooms?

August 18 - September 9: 1st floor rooms?

advantages of either one?

better views from either one?
The Touring Plans BWV Room Finder might help you to choose.

We are arriving at BWV in 32 days (6/01). Any other news on the construction? Is it limited to BWI or does it include BWV? TIA
See my post above. Your trip is coming up soon!

Does anyone happen to know which rooms have king beds at the BWI? That's what our request is for.
Have you tried the Touring Plans Room Finder? Usually, king rooms by-request are often HA rooms.

Hi everyone!

Trying to decide between boardwalk inn and Beac club. My main question is walk ability to the bus stop. I have major hip issues and a long long walk to the bus stop is what I'm trying to avoid. Would it be easier at boardwalk inn or beach club to get a room closer to the bus stop? I don't care if our view is of the parking lot... Just want to be as close as possible. Thanks!

Hi everyone!

Trying to decide between boardwalk inn and Beac club. My main question is walk ability to the bus stop. I have major hip issues and a long long walk to the bus stop is what I'm trying to avoid.

I don't know precisely how far of a walk it is to the bus stop at the Beach Club, but the walk to the stop at Boardwalk (assuming you go through the lobby, which is what you'll most likely do if you use the elevator) is on an incline. Going down it to the bus may not be a big issue, but coming back - particularly after a day in the park - might be. I've not stayed in the Inn; I suppose it's possible to get a room on the lower floor next to a stairwell that would open up to the outside which would allow you to walk on a fairly level side of the street to the stop but that would be a fairly detailed request you'd have to put in and the likelihood of you getting it would be, I'd think, fairly low. (That's assuming that the exit from a stairwell even goes out that side of the building.)

Much as I love the Boardwalk, you might be better served with the Beach Club resort.

That is great info, thank you! A gradual incline is probably okay, mostly I just want the shortest walk. I have to walk in the parks all day anyway, but thought I could make my life a bit easier in the resort! Last year we stayed in a River View room at POR and I swear we walked for ever and ever ever to get to the bus stop!!!

I am trying to gauge how different the resort will 'feel' as I've never stayed at either Beach or Boardwalk...They look a lot smaller than POR, so I'm assuming that most rooms are going to be closer to the bus stop than the average room at POR. Is that a correct assumption? How is the walk from Beach club to Epcot? I know that's hard to gauge. But like, would it be like walking from Soarin' to Test track? Or more like walking from Soarin' to Norway etc? (Might as well use disney distances as gauges eh?) :D

I believe the Beach Club is a smaller resort than the Boardwalk. Having stayed at both, they have a similar format that the bus entrance is out the front entrance, straight down a sidewalk. I think the BWV sidewalk is longer to the bus stop. They are both easy walks with a slight incline.

As for which will be easier, I think it depends on where you are in the resort. If you are down at the furthest end of the hallway, it will be a longer walk to the front of the resort. I think both had covered walkways on the sidewalk to the bus stop.

As for the walk from Beach Club to Epcot, again, depending on the specific part of the resort, it really is a short walk. It is a longer from Boardwalk to Epcot.

This thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3180519 talks about the distance from the Studios to Epcot being 1.12 miles. The resorts - Beach Club and Boardwalk - are in the middle of that walk. Beach Club would be a few steps closer to Epcot, while Boardwalk closer to Studios. (By "a few" I mean somewhere around 30-70 steps? I've never counted; I'm a couch potato so anything more than 10 seems like a lot!) A response to that opening thread statement makes it sound like it's approximately a mile from one end of World Showcase to the other, btw.

And a 'gradual incline' is, I guess, a true statement. But .... suffice to say I would not want to be in a non-mechanized wheelchair and have someone let go of the handles if I were at the beginning of the incline. I don't recall it being "bad" but I do feel as though it's more of an incline than I want. (see couch potato, above.) If it helps, consider this -- the lobby of the Boardwalk is on the second floor. The bus stop is on the ground floor. And if you take the elevator to the ground floor, you're going to come out at the pool -- and I'm not aware of any simple way to get to the front of the resort, where the bus stop is, from the pool area.

I've not been to POR, so have no answer for you on that question. And the last time I stayed at Beach Club was over 15 years ago. But I do know that you can get (un)lucky and be far away from the elevator at Boardwalk - and those hallways can seem endless. If you have difficulties walking, particularly if you plan on walking in the parks, I'd suggest "close to elevator" and "first floor" as preferences when making your reservation if you stay at the Boardwalk. That way you'll hopefully at least be able to go out a stairwell without having to go down stairs if you end up far from the elevator.

Thanks everyone for the info! I just looked at Google Earth Maps and I think that Beach club might be a better fit. It really is close to Epcot! I'm even thinking that with it being so close I could rent an ECV during our stay and at least use it at Epcot. I've never done that before and just toughed the pain out and walked, but maybe this year I will rent one. I have always been afraid of what people will think or getting them on and off a bus, but Epcot is the park that really kills my hip, so maybe I'll suck it up and do it and swallow my pride. :D

Just booked a short mother-daughter trip 9/11 to 9/14 at Boardwalk Inn standard room. 30% off room only Visa discount.:cool1: First time at Boardwalk!!

Arriving at Coronado Springs tomorrow. Then we're off to BWV for a week on Sunday. So excited!!!

As far as the ECV goes, you should not worry about what anyone else thinks. If you need one, you need one. I suggest, however, that you practice driving, turning, and stopping before you get out and about with people. My mom needed one for a trip a few years ago and we made her run through paths, etc. until she was deemed eligible for the road! Getting on and off the bus was a little nerve wracking for her, but usually if she followed the suggestions of the bus driver, it worked out fine. You don't want to be in pain on your vacation.

DH and I will be staying at Boardwalk in October for our second stay there! I just booked while at POR last week and saved 35%! We've spoiled ourselves with CL in the past, and the only availability for our dates was in the Outer Garden Building. Anyone stayed there? The cost is silly, but I can kinda justify it through the BB offer, but I'm concerned that we won't take advantage of the CL offerings since we'll be so far removed (or is it not that far?)
Any insight, input, complaints? Thanks so much!!

Quick question...

I've stayed at the BWI once before, but it was a loooong time ago, and never used the pools. I've checked through this thread, and looked at different pictures trying to figure this out myself, and just can't. :sad2:

My question is, are there hot tubs at the quiet pools too? Or just at the main pool?

Yes there are hot tubs at both the Inn quiet pool & the Villas quiet pool.
