Thanks for all the answers to my previous two questions. I thought I was through with questions but I came across another two things while planning that I wanted to verify with someone with recent experience... 1. Is it still possible to get a pizza at the BW pizza window for 2 QS credits? 2. Is it still accurate that the BW performers are there Th-Sat. evenings? Also, just curious... Have any families rented the Surrey Bikes & want to share your thoughts? Thanks Again!!!

We rented a surrey bike last time. It was in 2012, with DH me and our boys who were 5 and 7 at the time. We were able to get the 2-person one because the boys both fit into the front part which is good for small children. They were too short to pedal anyway lol. DH and I found it to be a very good workout, going uphill a lot on the "trail" they tell you to take. We laughed the whole time! It was fun, definitely worth trying at least once. I'm not sure if we will do it again on our trio next month. It was definitely nice to do on a day we weren't going to a park. We went straight to the pool afterwards!

Just wanted to check-in to the thread.

Been to the world a number of times, this will be our first at BWI. But I decided since we wont be back until June/July 2016, may as well go Club.

First time with the whole family too - myself, DW, DS14, DS2 and DD1. Should be an interesting adventure.

November 20-25, 2014 are the dates.

Hi

We have an upcoming trip to the WL which I am thinking of changing due to construction by the pool. We have stayed at the YC in the past and I LOVED it there. However, my husband always wants to try new resorts. Was thinking of giving the Boardwalk a try since it is an Epcot resort which is one of the things that I loved about the YC.

Was wondering how the walk to Epcot is compared to the walk from the YC? About the same or a little bit further? Also, there doesn't seem to be a quick serve food area at the Boardwalk--or is there? My kids like pool time and I loved being able to get a quick (somewhat inexpensive) lunch for them at Hurricane Hannas. Thanks so much for any replies!

It takes us about 5 minutes to walk to Epcot from the time we exit the hotel and are on the actual Boardwalk. And that is with small children. We love the walk to Epcot, but if you really want to, it is only one stop on the boat. Sometimes we take the boat back to the hotel if we are too tired to walk.

It is about a 15-minute walk for us to DHS as well. The boat ride takes longer since it has to stop at Swan/Dolphin and BC/YC first before continuing to DHS. We only take the boat back if it is raining or if it looks like it might rain any minute.

As far as CS, there is the Boardwalk Bakery, which was refurbished in 2013. It doesn't have indoor seating, but there are many more selections than there used to be, and the inside area runs more efficiently since they utilized a lot more space than before, from what I've read. Our last trip was in 2012 so we are looking forward to the bakery now compared to before. I mean, it was just fine but now it will be better. There is still a limited selection at breakfast besides pastries though. I know there are also a few stands on the Boardwalk that sell food. I've never tried them. I'm also not sure if they take the DDP, in case that applies to you...we don't use the DDP so I never check. The Dolphin is also a very short walk from Boardwalk, about 5 minutes. They have an excellent quick service which is open 24 hours. However, none of the restaurants at the Swan or Dolphin take the DDP.

The pool is great! My boys love the slide. The pool bar also serves food, I think the same sandwiches that the bakery serves. Sometimes I'm in the mood for a burger so I just walk over to the Dolphin for lunch while we're at the pool.

We love BWV. It's our dvc home and we always stay there! :)

If you do the Surrey bikes, just make sure everybody is ready to peddle. I did it with three teenage girls once and guess who did all the work? Those hills on the bridges are tough!

We're doing the NCL Breakaway out of manhattan, but my in-laws are doing that Summit cruise in a month for the second year in a row. Glad you liked it!

Not sure about the pizza, I thought it was one slice for one credit, but hopefully other people can answer.

The Thursday-Sat evening is NOT accurate. Now it's every night!! If the weather is bad (raining), they do it in the lobby instead of out on the BW. Enjoy!

A co-worker just came back from that cruise and loved it. Enjoy and don't forget, if you need any last minute photo gear, stop by my store <wink>

Accidentally quoted the answer rather than the question, but I concur. The difference between walking from YC or the Boardwalk is negligible. We just got back and find walking rather than taking the boat is faster. And while the walk to DHS is longer, it is pleasant and pretty walking along the water.

They also have the pizza window on the Boardwalk - by the slice or whole pizza.

We are headed down Aug 2-9 for our first ever stay at BWI - staying in a studio. The Unofficial Guide was not terribly optimistic about the bus service from BWI to MK or AK. What are people's experiences with bus service? Can't wait to walk to EPCOT and HS!

We never had a problem going to MK on the bus. We haven't been to AK since 2008 and we were staying at Pop then.

One time, but back in 2010, the bus took a long time to come when we were waiting at MK to go back to BWV.

I usually go to Poly but am looking forward to BWI. It looks like a beautiful resort and I can't wait to hit the pool.

Thanks for the help! Part of my problem is although the bakery sounds great for DH and me, DD and DS are teenagers that don't stray too far from chicken/burgers/pizza/macncheese/etc. Are the pizza window and boardwalk to go decent or should they be avoided? Are they only cash, or could I use my Disney Visa Redemption card here (not the visa, the card you get for your points)?

We just got back & you can use the rewards card anywhere on property. We ordered pizza one night & my hubby said it wasn't the best pizza. You can order 1 slice or a whole pizza there. It was $20 for a whole one. It might be worth a try! Have fun!!

My experience with the bus service from BWI to MK and AK is mixed. Sometimes the busses will serve all five Epcot resorts and that's when it is just really long. That is not the norm, however. Those are the two parks at which we spend the least amount of time, so having the real convenience to Epcot and DHS balances it out. Oftentimes, when we're returning from MK, we will take the monorail to TTC and then monorail to Epcot and walk through. Obviously, you need park hoppers to do that and you need to consider whether Epcot is open (like you can't do that after evening EMH at MK). BWI is my favorite Deluxe resort and it is worth the occasional hiccups with bus transportation. Now, BWI from DTD is a real hassle and I will almost always choose to taxi back from DTD. We have waited more than an hour for a bus back to BWI from DTD more than a couple of times. I won't do that anymore -- maybe it has improved in the last couple of years.

Hey Boardwalk peeps. Nothing to add to the conversation, but I was away for a work trip (Chicago, they don't get the internet there :rotfl2:), and then next Sunday we're away for a week for a cruise to Bermuda, our first non-Disney trip in about six vacations!

Hope you enjoy your YC/CL trip, Kook! Totally get the switch.

Some Sunday Scenery

Love that photo. Can I use it on the first page sometime? From where did you take it?

Happy cruising and have some baked Alaska for me.

hi, has anyone taken a peek at the renovated rooms or lounge yet? any photos?
Good question and I was hoping to see some rehabbed room photos by now, too. If we don't get any soon, I'll be going over from YC to see if I can get into a new room on or after 6/22.

Yippee! Congratulations on booking your first BWI-CL stay - I'll log your dates on the first page.

Aloha! You're going to love being able to walk to Epcot and DHS. You can also walk to Fantasia Golf. There are even hot tubs at BWI, which currently, Poly doesn't have, but will next year.

Thanks for the warm welcome. After long days walking through the parks, the hot tubs will be exactly what we need. The lack of hot tubs was always shortcoming at Poly.

Thanks, Kook! You have open permission to use any of my photos at any time. :). I think I've posted most of them over time, but I have more on my Flikr page, feel free to grab any.

On the Villa side, the elevator lobbies have a doorway out to a balcony that overlooks the pool. That was taken from the fifth floor, if I remember correctly.
I had that picture as my iPad screensaver for about six months, it's one of my favorites. Glad you like it!

I think this is the other pic you've said you liked in the past.

The pool can be very picturesque if you can avoid the red headed guy. :clown:

That is a great pic too PSAC!:)

Does anyone have a layout of the BWI that tells where the club level lounge is on the 4th floor in relation to the garden view suites? Thanks!
