We stayed in a standard view years ago and the view wasn't too bad. We requested farthest from the elevator so we weren't too close to the porte cochere. So that would be one request I would recommend making.

We were also able to see Epcot fireworks from our top floor balcony. The only mistake I made was asking for top floor. I wanted to be as far down as possible but the top floor only goes about halfway down the side of the building.

That is good to know! So would I be better off not mentioning the floor? Do any of the standard view 1bd have access to the sidewalk to the Studios?

I wouldn't request floor unless you really don't want first floor, top floor, etc.

On the other side of where the standard view villas are located is the quiet pool/canal. You can get out of the building using the stairs and have access to the sidewalk to HS.

So we should be able to access the walkway from a standard view villa without much difficulty?

You would just have to find the exit staircase to the quiet pool. It's been a while since we stayed on that side so I can't even remember how to get there. But it's not difficult at all.

Maybe someone can give more info or a room number located closest to the studios walkway exit.

This probably isn't that helpful. Sorry.

2123, 3123, and 4123 are the 3 dedicated 1BR standard-view units directly above the exit where the walkway leads toward the bus stop. Opposite that exit is the door which leads to the quiet pool and walkway to DHS.

I could use some advice :) We are booked for a standard view one bedroom villa at BWV in June and I'm a bit nervous. Are the views really dreadful? We desperately want to be in an Epcot resort because the kids are going to Star Wars Weekend, and this was the only room I could find. Also, what requests would you recommend I make? Are there certain standard view areas better than others? Since we are a cash reservation do we have a chance of being upgraded to a better view? Thanks so much! :goodvibes

Actually Garden/Pool view is only available on points reservations at the villas, at least for the one bedrooms. That being said, even the standard views are pretty decent in the villas. Touringplans.com has a room finder where you can see pix of the views from the majority of the rooms. Maybe someone can post a link since I'm posting from my iPhone.

We were in 4123 for our first stay at BWV last month. Loved the location! Going back for a two bedroom in December. Any idea room number with similar location?

We finally have a date for the BWI room rehab and of course, it overlaps with our stay:worried:, but maybe we'll get a newly rehabbed room:scratchin

From tonight's AllEars Newsletter:

The Boardwalk Inn will undergo a room refurbishment from approximately May 4 through September 9.
All guest rooms will get new carpets, new tubs, and new bed linens. The Innkeeper's Lounge (Concierge club level) will have some upgrades as well.

Thanks for the update, Kook. Always appreciate our board hostess with the most-ess information! :goodvibes

Can you add us to the Boardwalk Guest List. We will be staying at the BWI from September 21-29, standard view. It will be me, my DH, and our 4 kids! We are VERY excited!

Great news for our January stay!!! Can't think of any improvements needed in the lounge, other than a fridge for drinks!

Hi WDWKOOK :wave2:

Thanks much for the update :thumbsup2 we finally decided on staying BWI CL for the first 2 weeks in September :cool1: however, due to the rehab, are now contemplating if we should change resorts? we've never stayed at a resort during a rehab and don't know what to expect... if the dates mentioned above don't change, rehab should be completed 5 days into our stay... just not sure how the rehab will affect our stay :confused3

Advice please...

Thank you

I know this was directed at WDWKOOK, but we have stayed at 4 resorts during room rehabs and every time it took someone telling us that a refurb was going on for us to even know. They are really good about keeping the guests away from the areas they will be working on. IMHO, they do a great job of keeping the impact to their guests to a minimum or even non-existent.

You said it was a cash booking, right? Unless they changed something, aren't all cash bookings for the Villa rooms equal to the preferred (non-boardwalk) views for DVC bookings??

Thanks for the information. I can't wait to see the changes!

Not my experience. I just booked a cash room for the first night as an addon to our RCI week. Only Standard view was available. Our RCI booking is garden/pool view. I did look ahead many months for a full rack room and only standard view. I asked the reservations CM and he said only standard rooms for cash stays. Take that with a Disney grain of salt I suppose.

Standard view is all I've ever seen for cash bookings. It's always described as Standard view-Views of resort grounds or parking area.
