Closed but Active PaperBag Album Swap Check in Here!!!

Hmmm, maybe not so much on people, but some of the best tasting stuff that goes into people has lots of fat.

Fat is good. Very good. I like fat. :rotfl:

:rotfl: you are so much like me in that. I loveeeeeee emellishments. half the time I dont leave room for many pictures. But I will in your books. (maybe) :cool2: thats why I added extra tags.

just checking in, haven't done anything though. :) (well ok, I did shop some more but that's about it). maggie

My bling's arrived so now I can crack on - I'm glad I waited, the colours are lovely :goodvibes

Gee, I am sorry I haven't checked in lately!!! I was a bit busy traveling, going to New York for a wedding and getting back to work, yada yada yada... But, it seems like you guys are just moving right along without me!!!! :rotfl2:

So, I guess we have decided to Embellish the covers, but NOT add a title. OK, I got that part.

You guys seem to be ok with how to embellish your pages??? You can go as simple as you like or fancy, it's all up to you. Just remember to have fun! Leave space for photos! Or as Kat has mentioned, use tags and such for your photos! The hidden journaling is a cute idea! Anytime you have the reader involved in touching and using the book, and finding things it is always a good thing!

I also agree "FAT" is a good thing!!!! Of course it sucks when it's on our bodies!!!! :rotfl2:

Questions, you have my number!

Thanks for checking in and I am going to update and I am getting started on mine!!!

OK - I finally had a chance to start this today at a 4 hour crop. I was really looking forward to this as those who have been posting made them sound like fun. Here are my thoughts so far with 1 book nearly covered...just have one pair of pages left to cover.

1) What on earth possessed me to join this thing?!?!?!? :headache: (And yes, I remember that I really wanted to join but couldn't until the due date was changed. This is a rhetorical question. ;) )

2) Are you all really using double-sided Scotch tape from Wal-Mart or somewhere else? I got mine at Target...is that the problem? I hate this stuff!! I'm not used to touching double-sided tape because I use a CM tape runner. I can't get it to go down without feeling like a 2-year-old who wraps themselves in it! :lmao: The plastic holder is fairly flimsy & the tape itself is really tough so it's really, really difficult to tear! :headache:

3) Do I have defective bags? Or are all of yours REALLY 6" wide? Exactly 6" wide?!?!? Starting with my first cut (6" x 2.5") there was a strip of the bag still showing. :confused3 Or am I just anal & seeing the bag is acceptable?

4) Are you all following the directions & putting the book together before covering the pages? Between the tape issues & the book wanting to close, it's really a pain to cover the pages! I'm thinking it might be easier to cover the sides with the paper then THEN put it together. I'm thinking of trying a 4th one (not for the swap) doing it that way just to see.

I'm loving the way it looks, but am not enjoying this project! It's a good thing this isn't due until the end of next month!! :scared:

Uh Oh!! I haven't started. I have my supplies but have not had time to start. Maybe I will try for an hour or two tomorrow.

I haven't really read the instructions. I know I won't be using double-sided Scotch tape, though, because I don't like it. I had planned to use a tape-runner like I normally do. I hope that works.

My bags measure 6 1/8" x 12 3/8" as written on the package dimensions. I assume that seeing a small 1/8" or 3/16" strip on the edges is acceptable, otherwise I may need to buy more paper.

Good luck with yours, Deb. I'm sure they'll be great when you work out the kinks!

I used my tape runner---- It seems to work fine. I can not stand double sided tape. I have the same feeling.

Well DUH!! :lmao: :lmao: I never read the package! I just bought the "Giant" bags as instructed & cut my paper as instructed. I assumed it would cover. :rotfl2: So evidently bits of the bag showing is acceptable? ;)

And Mickeyteacher - as long as they look the same, I'm going to go ahead & put mine together at the end. I just think it will be a LOT easier! Thanks for the info.

Yes, bits of the bag show... I think I adjusted my sizing.. I'll measure tonight and post so there was minimal bag showing..
I also am decorating my pages before I adhere them to the bags...
I couldn't figure how on earth I was going to add brads or eyelets to the pages if I had already adhered them to the paper bags..because than they would be going through to the other page...
:)
I'm way behind on this... but right now.. I'm helping DD w/ her Genealogy project for the state fair..and we have 9 projects to complete by July 4th.. the fair is the last week of July..but I'm NOT waiting til the last minute... AND.. WE is.. SHE is doing.. I'm standing on the side pushing the issue..and typing in her genealogy info.. that way I have it for my records too!!!

I'm making my pages and THEN adherring them to the bags. I am using normal stuff, like splints, runners, etc on the pages and then plan on using the Artz Accents stuff to go from page to bag (put the red tape on the pages and then stick them to the bag.

When we did these for class, we put a "binder" on each page and bound the pages together with the ribbon, so you could see each page. More like a tag book than a book book. I will have to make my princess books that way because there will be too much fluff to try to make them the other way.

I will be using up ALL my inks on this project because I will be inking the paper bags. This way, whatever shows will look like it is supposed to be showing.

Thanks for letting us now how you're doing your pages, AWM and Nancy. Sounds like it will work better to do the pages first and then adhere.

AWM, I love the Art Accents red tape....it's really strong. I will probably also use that to adhere the pages. I'll probably use my tape runner, though to adhere some of the things onto the pages, though.

I'll be looking forward to hearing about the dimensions of your pages, Nancy.

I found that my tape running (CM) didn't hold the Bazzill onto the paper bag well at all

I don't find tape runner strong enough for Bazzill (and as for what its doing to my straight cutter:headache: I've got replacement blades on the way but I've had to resort to pulling off the ones from the wavy trimmer) i've used the double-sided tape (I cut it with scissors) and using photo splits to fix smaller bits. I'd already stuck the pages before I realised I wouldn't be able to use brads then :sad2: :headache: so the disney ones will have other embellishments and the Summer ones may be tackled a different way.

I normally do things like this as an assembly line, but I found this way to complicated to remember what pages would be for what :headache: so I've done one Disney one and will copy it today for the other two, then I'll cut the bazzill for the Summer (that should finish off the cutter) and work out what is going where.

I don't know about you but I've gone right off Bazzill

Tonight I sat down and took the evening off of swaps. So I decided I'd work on a baby paperbag book, these are practice runs so my ladies will get good ones. Anyways one of my co workers grandson is turning 1 next month so I made his mommy a book to celebrate his first year.

Here are the pictures

if the book is going to be handled a lot, the tape isn't going to work so well. I used it on my irish dance book and after it was looked at by a bunch of people, it's not in the best of shape. I ended up having to staple the pages to the bag part. I think I'm going to go with my club scrap book binding glue or something. maggie

Maggie, which tape are you referring to that you don't think will hold-up, the Scotch double sided, or the Art Accents, or a permanent tape runner? Can you get the book binding glue in one of the chain stores?

That was a very sweet gift.

Thanks for sharing.

Wow Kat, you are really getting the hang of these books aren't you!
Kaeden's book looks so sweet.

Mazda, you can still use the brads on the tags. And you can still use them on the page, IF you put them near the ends. Fold up one side, slide it in and then push down on the straight piece. But I agree, it'll be easier to just change your direction than do all that.
