We are almost ready to start our adventure. We (me, DW, DS19, DD16, DS13) will be living full time, for the next few years, in our new 2015 Heartland Gateway 3650BH fifth wheel. We plan on travelling the country to see family, friends and all that God has created. We will be spending our first three months in Florida with eight weeks at FW

We have been living in the RV part time at my son's house since September and we leave on January 2. We have done a lot of tent camping but believe it or not this is our first time camping in an RV. So I have a few questions about what I need to bring.

We have not used the water, gray water or black water systems yet. I know I will need a potable water hose but how long and what diameter is best? I will also need sewer hoses but what fittings will I need to hook up to the system at FW? Will I need to bring a cable for the TV? Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank You

You will need a hose for potable water, I have a 20ft and a 10 ft, depending on the site I use one or both
you will also need a pressure regulator for your water line to protect your trailer plumbing. I also use a Y at the faucet and connect a brown water hose with a backflow preventer so that I can connect that to my tank flush and use that during the stay.
You will need a cable to connect for TV, ours is 25ft but rarely do we need one that long, I just leave the extra coiled up under the trailer.
I have 2 different sewer hoses, a 20ft and a 10ft so depending on which site I dont have more than I need. You will also need the connector to seal your hose to the parks drain, ours is threaded so it can screw down into the sink then the 90degree fitting slips and locks into that.
If you forget anything there are several Walmarts around as well as the Camping world in Kissimmee.

Great suggestions already and all I have to add is that I am beyond jealous of the whole 8 weeks at the Fort thing. Sounds fabulous!

Congrats on new camper. I would pressure test with live water on a warm day to double check you dont have any leaks. You can also bleach the lines after the test, then airblow the lines out so they dont freeze.

FW hook ups are at odd locations and depending on where your campers hookup are at, you may need an additional 10-25 feet. On my 36 camper the are ALL the way back.

I travel with a 25/10 ft water hose and just was able to connect. I will be replacing the 10 with 25 for total of 50 feet. I also have primary sewer hose HD from walmart then also keep a 10' with extension just in case and will be looking closer at what my bumper can hold. Also you may want to get a sewer flush hose, most new campers have the swirely dooley in the black tank that helps flush. I think its safe to say, most don't cross service their primary water hose with this sewer cleaning connection. If the hose end up being the same color mark the sewer one with red electrical tape of duct tape.

I can't help much on your RV needs but I just wanted to say congrats on the new adventures!

Congratulations also. All the info given to you is great. One thing we use is Verizon Jetpack for our internet connention! It works wonderful at the fort as well as when you are traveling.:thumbsup2Have a fantastic adventure snd sfe travels:)!
