Does anyone have any tips for me? I only have a few pounds left to lose (only about 5 left to go!) and it's sooo hard to keep my motivation up for these last few pounds. And they go so slowly, it's like "why bother?" some days. But I'm so afraid that if I give up now, I'll "inch" back up to having far more than 5 pounds to lose-that's happened to me so many times. Help! Keep me motivated!

Try to think of them as your first 5 pounds instead of your last 5 pounds. Why did you want to loose weight in the first place? Why did you pick that goal weight? I have 20 left to go and it is getting harder, but I am determined to get these last 20 pounds off my BUTT! It took 7 years to gain this weight, so if it takes 7 to get it off that is okay because it is not a diet it is a way of life!

Good luck and keep going! You are so close!:teeth:

Losing those last few pounds is tough. How did you decide on your goal weight? Are you still overweight now or is this a number you decided on because you like it?

I'm not being sarcastic. You may already be at goal weight.

Can you think of a reward to tempt you? I envy you being so close to goal. You have worked hard and it shows. You're going to be sporting that pretty red "goal" clipart very soon :)

No, nativetxn, you're not being sarcastic, I understand your question. I did mostly come up with the idea myself, based on what I weighed for the longest time a mid-life adult (my gosh, I'm sure I'll never see the weight I was when I was in my 20s!). Then I checked it with Atkins BMI chart. But I think you've got me thinking-I'm going back to that chart today to take a second look.

Simba's Mom,
This is an interesting thread. Congratulations for doing so well.
::yes::
I have to lose about 25 lbs total to reach my goal weight- which interestingly is a number I came up with on my own. I would love to hear if there is a place on-line where you can look at charts to get an idea if the goal is realistic or not.

Anyway, the first few came off really easy, but it's been real work to lose any more. My clothes fit better and people are staring to notice, so sometimes I have to remind myself that I am not there yet-that fitting into the size "12"s is great, but when my body fits into the "10"s thats when I'll be at a healthier place. I am only 5'2" so I really can't afford to carry that extra weight-it's just not healthy.

So keep up the good work you have started. I will be interested to read the additional posts here to stay motivated too.

If you decide you still want to lose those last 5 pounds.....pick something to be an ultimate reward. Maybe something like a massage, new outfit, something that is going to make "you" feel happy, that you wouldn't normally do.

i'm here with you :hug:

i was 2 lbs from goal last November, then holidays, 8 days between WDW/DCL, more holidays and i'm holding steady now about 5-8 lbs from goal. My original goal was a number, to hit the "25 lbs loss" personal goal. Now i'm shooting for a bit different goal, one that will enable me to slip on any pair of jeans I own, button them and not think twice about it. I am very happy to be buying size 8 jeans now, I just want them all to fit!

soo----I just reserved Dr. Phils book on CD to listen to in the car and i'm going back to his steps a bit and work on my right thinking for now. I have been telling myself things like "well, it's really a low number............a year ago my goal was 140 not 135.............etc etc" but bottom line is I felt alot better last November and I want to settle there not less.

i'd love to get a pedicure, I always said my goal reward would be a pair of Birkenstock sandals.. guess I need to talk with DH and determine if this is a good plan for me.

next i'm working on no-fail environment. I had two DDs and i'm not really doing them any favors with the amount of junk we have. Now they love healthy choice ice cream bars and rice krispie treats, but I think I live through them and buy them the junk food I think sounds good and then make it harder on myself. I'm not desperate enough to throw it all away, but i'll be limiting the amount I buy from here out and focusing on more healthier snacks

PD to you -- we can do this!
