My wife and I (without the kids) are planning on going to DLR in January, but have not decided exactly what dates. Last night we were calling a few hotels and found a GREAT rate at the Quality Inn & Suites, anyone stayed here?

Was it too far to walk

Was it a dive.

Was it GREAT value.

Also, what time frame will HM & IASW be down while taking off holiday overlays?

We are thinking now to be in DLR Jan 12, 13, 14.....but this is a moving target still.

My friend was in from out of town back in July and she took her son and mom to DLR. Not wanting to spend the money on a DLR resort hotel, she jumped at the first good deal she found - which was the Quality Inn. When someone on this board suggested that QI might be less than...well, CLEAN, my friend found an online review and there were little bugs crawling all over the web page! It had a terrible review. So she cancelled her QI reservation and made one at the Del Sol, and she said that was perfectly fine. She liked it. It was clean and bug-free and it had a little complimentary breakfast included!

Try Howard Johnson's Entertainment rate which is $59 per night. Call 714-776-6120 and ask for in-house reservations. You will need to purchase an Entertainment card before you check in but $59 is a one of the best rates around and Hojo's is a really clean hotel with great staff.

Hi, Brian!

Quality Inn definitely gets mixed reviews. A few people on these boards have reported that it was fine for them, plain but clean. Others have had bad experiences there. One way to look for reviews is to go to tripadvisor.com and type in the name of the hotel plus Anaheim. You'll find lots of reviews of all the Disney area hotels.

The review Sherry was talking about was on this map: http://www.geocities.com/ashpsyche/DisneylandLinkMap.html if you click on the link to the Quality Inn, you'll find the buggy review. That's a good map to look at for other close hotels.

Many people on these boards like Howard Johnson, which is across the street from Quality Inn, one block up from the crosswalk entrance to DL. The reason is because it's one of the nicer hotels on Harbor, and they run an Entertainment Book special that is just about unbeatable. It's currently $59 a night for a standard room and $74 a night for a superior, park-view room. It's clean, recently renovated with new mattresses in most rooms, free parking and internet, and the staff is very nice and helpful. That special is currently showing available for the dates you mentioned; here's the link to the website that give you details about it: http://www.hojoanaheim.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=14

Hope that helps! :)

Thanks, Gail! I was trying to find the buggy review of QI to include the link but I couldn't recall what the name of the site was or where to locate the web page again! Thanks for being right on top if things here!

ewww that was the first hotle i looked at a few years ago and decied not to go to it.

but also desert inn and camolot inn are across the street too
camolot inn is more excpincve. Desert inn I had heard so many good things about I was gona try it this oct. but hojos came up for its prices for my days so i jumped on it. Tho is ent rate wasnt avalibule id make resvations at desert inn

If the Candy Cane Inn is within $20-$30 of the Hojo (or the BW or Fairfield or Camelot etc.), you might want to consider it as well. Similar in quality (it's a nice spruced up motel) to the HOJO, but it also has a nice breakfast bar & a dedicated shuttle (but don't rely on the shuttle for MM).

I don't think I have ever seen Candy Cane's rates below $100. I always check it for our early December trip but it is always too expensive.

How much is the entertainment book, which one do I need, how can I pre-order it from Canada?

THANKS

Here's a link to the Entertainment website listing the books available: http://www.entertainment.com/discount/local_editions.shtml

Doesn't matter which edition you get; you can get the one for the area closest to you if it has coupons in it you can use; or you can get the cheapest one (they run from $25-45 bucks, but if you wait until after Christmas, they might be discounted). All you need is the card that's stuck inside the front cover.

Also, you don't have to have the card in order to reserve the room. You just have to have it by the time you get there and check in. So you can call now and reserve the room at the Entertainment rate; and I'd suggest doing it soon, because they do sell out sometimes. As the previous poster said, be sure and call IN HOUSE reservations ( (714) 776-6120 and ask for "in house reservations) and don't let them shuttle you to the national reservation line. You can only get this deal through the hotel itself.

Hope that helps!

Other than the entertainment rate...can someone tell me why everyone loves the Hojo so much? I've never been there so I have no clue what it's like. All I know is...

A) You can get a cheap rate with an entertainment card.
B) It's a moderate walk to the parks
C) It's right by the freeway

What are the rooms like? Can you hear the freeway from some of the rooms? I've never seen photos of the place.
