clip in hair extensions

I have a good friend who uses them. I'll PM you with a link to her photo. She gets them from a beauty supply shop and sews the clips in herself. She doesn't spend more than $40.

A regular Beauty Supply like Sally Beauty won't have human hair ones and she swears that they must be 100% human hair to look decent.

I'll PM you.

I have one and love it! Mine is actually one piece instead of separate pieces (looks like the one on the top). My hair is extremely thin and fine and no matter what I do with it looks awful. I have always loved the look of long full hair, so these are perfect for me. I've tried wigs and hate them. The think I like about these extensions is that they look completely natural. You would never know it's not real. I you send me your email address I can email you a picture.

thanks - do you remember the brand name or do you think the brand matters much as long as it's human hair? how'd you match up the color?

Those look pretty nice, they look very natural on the models on the website. Much better than those clip in things from the mall and HSN! Eek...I can always tell when a woman is wearing one of those ponytail ones. Mostly b/c I've never seen a real ponytail look like those clip on things unless it was done by a styalist (and you know an average woman does not get her hair done at the salon before going to the grocery store or a baseball game!)

I believe the brand I have is called Look of Love. I ordered mine from a company that sold various types of hair extensions. I already had one of those pony-tail type clips by Revlon that matched my hair perfectly, so I emailed the company and they were able to advise me based on the color of clip on ponytail I already had (they sold that same brand). Although if it is a good quality hairpiece it should have various shades of hair mixed in (you can't tell though) and as long as you are reasonably close in color, it should blend in with your own hair. No one's hair is all one color anyway. Mine isn't an exact match but you really can't tell.

Also, mine isn't human hair and it looks great. There are pros and cons to human vs. artificial hairpieces. I did some research and eventually decided to get synthetic hair. I can't remember all the advantages but I do remember reading that human hair pieces are mostly made from asian (dark) hair that hass been bleached and recolored. The processing causes the hair to be somewhat dull. They don't have as much shine that synthetic pieces have, which is one thing I love about my piece. It's not that 'fake-looking' shine either...it looks very natural. Also, synthetic pieces are supposed to be less fragile and last longer although I have to tell you, this last one I have is a year and a half old and it is already starting to look ratty. I'm pretty rough on it though. For one thing, I use regular hairspray on it at times (a big no-no for synthetic hair).

I'll try to give some links so you can decide for yourself. I need to order a new one, and I'm thinking about trying one made from real hair this time. I'd also like to try the type with separate pieces like the set in your link...just to see the difference.

I sent you some pictures! :)

Thank you! :).

One more thing I thought I'd mention. I'm not sure how thin your hair is but if it is very thin like mine you might want to consider getting a single piece rather than separate pieces. The problem is that with very thin hair it can be somewhat difficult to hide where the hair attaches. with the single piece I am able to attach it and then pull the hair that is underneath over the band that is between the combs. With the separate peices you can't do that - I suspect it might be more difficult to conceal the attachment if there are separate pieces. I don't know though since I've only used the single-piece. Here is a link to the one I have:

They have one made from human hair as well. Mine is synthetic but I'm considering getting one made from human hair this time so that I can use a curling iron, regular hairspray, etc.
