got the following from an AP article, haven't read the book
but geesh....

He even expressed gratitude to his political enemies for bringing him and his wife closer together. And once the impeachment process was over, his eviction — of at least two months — to the couch in a living room next to the bedroom ended, too, he said.

I'd think the White House had a few other beds the leader
of the free world could have slept in. Do you suppose being
banished "to the couch" is akin to "not having sexual relations
with that woman, Ms. Lewinski"?
I hate this kind of stuff, it's just stupid and insulting. I loved
what Clinton polically as president but if he thinks for one minute that I believe he, as president of the United States, slept on
the couch. Come on:rolleyes:

No surprize here... EVERYTHING Clinton has ever said gets me!!!

But, on the latest quotes here, he says that what he did was a terrible moral error (or something like that) And he said that it was so bad because he did it "Just because he could".

Oh yeah... BIG revelation here!!! Try to take the high road here buddy, but you are not fooling me one bit either.... Say this after months and years of indulging and denying. And, hey, if you feel what you did was so morally reprehensible, then why wait till now to take any responsibility.

Of course, the issues with his wife are obvious. But, Has Clinton not considered what these words must feel like to Monica???? I could be wrong, but I doubt he has ever personally apologized for treating her the way he did, and putting her through what he and his associates did through the whole fiasco.

Couch comments or not, personally I could not give a hoot where Clinton slept, or sleeps.

I guess I don't see why you care or really what business it is of anybody other than President Clinton and his wife?

I'm not what you would call a Clinton fan so i'm not defending it's just when I read the quote it crossed my mind that perhaps he just meant banishment from the marital bed (which is normally referred to as the "couch"). I mean perhaps he didn't mean the literal one??? Just a thought.

That's the way I took it also, as a figure of speech.

ITA...who cares where he slept? (I never really cared WHO he was sleeping w/ either.....)

Okay, if you read the quote, it is very specific, even to where the alleged couch were located. Doesn't come off as a figure-of-speach at all.

Ohhhhh, but anybody who knows Clinton knows that he can say almost anything, and really mean almost anything else at the same time... It always seems to boil down to 'semantics'! LOL!!!!! You know, he has to clarify what the definition of 'is' is.

But, here is the bigger point. We are talking about the President of the United States living in his quarters at the White House... And we are supposed to believe that Hillary reigned in the bedroom and HE was banished by her to the -alleged- couch??? (like she didn't have her own area or quarters somewhere that SHE oculd have moved to) Hahahahahah!!!!! That would show once and for all that those people were right who said that it was Hillary who wore the pants in that Presidency! LOL!!!!!

Like I said, EVERYTHING that Clinton has said gets me.... He never makes sense, and you can never believe a word.

I second that. IMO he was a great President. To me, that's all that matters!!!

Well, since he's using this lead information to help sell his book,
I guess he thinks it's everyone's business. I know it was probably the 'figure of speech" couch but he SAID it was the couch
in the living room outside the bedroom as if he really slept on it.

Hey- I'm a Clinton lover, I'd vote for him over and over again. I
think he was a wonderful leader-just privately immoral. I mean,
nothing he did got thousands of innocent people killed. I just hate
the way he twists the truth continuing to shed doubt on his integrity.

It still amazes me -and most Europeans- that for so many Americans Clinton's screwing an intern is considered worse than Bush's screwing his country
He only lied about his sex-life, GWB lied about his reasons for going to war.

You mean like his "lies" when he said the British Intelligence said that Iraq was attempting to buy yellow cake, something they still say? Or was it the "lies" our intelligence service used, that "the Russians and French must have thought different" that now the Russians are saying they had their own proof that Hussein was planning attacks against us? Or the "lies" about the WMD that were backed up by every intelligence agency in the world? And, don't forget that President Clinton was one of those spreading the same "lies" - he used it to justify several missile attacks on Iraq (that conveniently happened when he was in the middle of being investigated for whatever he was being investigated for at that particular time).

It wasn't that Clinton screwed an intern that has us upset, it is the fact that he lied about it under oath. In our country that is a crime that a normal person would go to jail for multiple years. It is this that we find abhorent.

I do have to say that I rather long for the days when the analysis of the stain on Monica's dress was the biggest problem this country had. :p

Integrity is a rare characteristic these days. Perosnal integrity(or lack thereof) reflects public integrity (or lack thereof). The 2 are not mutually exclusive. Do I care who Presdient Clinton sleeps with from a personal standpoint? Not a bit. He's Hillary's problem in that department, not mine thank God. What I do care about is integrity, lying to the American public, and bringing so much shameful press tot he pffice of the President. The fact that we even know that Monica performed oral sex in the Oval Office, and all that cigar business...I'm sorry, but it cheapens the office and cheapens the country.

The planning of the 9/11 attacks did not start on the day President Bush was inauguarated. They were shaped by the history of the previous administrations (please note that I said "administrations"...plural...not just blaming President Clinton)and their dealings with similar situations. The first Iraqi war didn't finish the job. Shame on our government then. The military should have been allowed to go to Baghdad and do what needed to be done, but instead we bowed to the PC feeling and allowed Saddam to remain in power. The multiple terrorist attacks during the Clinton administration and our minimal response to them led the terrorists to believe that we were not up to a fight. We were in a weakened position militarily and they took advantage of it.

I often wonder if the terrorists watch USA TV and laugh at us for what we think?

Did he do what he did to Juanita Broadrick "because he could"? Famous Clinton quote from that time; "You should put some ice on that lip".

While I certainly agree with your sentiment, perhaps if Clinton had been more on the ball about Al Quaida and the threat it represented rather than concentrating on putting that stain on her dress, we might be talking about different problems in our country today.

My cousin, who used to work in the Secret Service, told me years ago that they one agent assigned to Clinton just to make sure he kept his pants zipped up. Now, I'm sure that is a gross exaggeration (at least I hope it was!), but there must a bit of truth in it, otherwise the story would have never started.
