If looking for a beautiful beach with not much crowds, which is better? Are they close to each other and are they far from the Tampa Airport? Do not know anything about that area.:confused3

I'm not sure if you are referring to the Indian Shores area or not, but we just stayed there in November and LOVED it. Its a very quiet beach area with lots of nice coast. Its just a short drive south of Clearwater Beach.
Clearwater iteself it quite a ways inland not considered beach front, but Clearwater Beach is right on the gulf. Its also very nice...lots to do and see if you are looking for that. We've stayed there a few times now over the past couple of years.
If I remember correctly, its about a 20-30 minute drive to Tampa airport. It was quite easy for us.
The entire gulf is very nice, but you have to decide if you want a busier vs. quieter area of beach. There is so much to do along the coast too. Check out: Johns Pass, Captain Memo's Pirate Cruise, and Caladesi Island just to name a few. All of them are within easy driving distance of Indian Shores.
Good luck. Pm me if you have more questions! :thumbsup2

We stayed at a condo in Indian Shores last summer for a few days. It is a very quiet place, a natural beach, beautiful. We also visited St. John Pass which is close by. If you like a less hectic place, you probably will love Indian Shores. Prices are more reasonable than Clearwater, too.

We're going to try Clearwater in May and St. Augustine Beach, so then will have a comparison.

I was going to include some pictures, but couldn't figure it out!

Thank you all so much. Lot's of stress going on and was trying to think of an easy, affordable place to go for a few days. Would not have a car so maybe Clearwater Beach would be better than Indian being it sounds a little secluded? Can anyone tell me if there is a nicer area of Clearwater Beach? Cleaner, safer (I do not even know if that would apply), and a little less crowded? I have been to Lauderdale by the Sea in Fort Lauderdale. Beach was very nice.

Also check out maderia beach. It's between st. pete and clearwater, about 15 minutes from tampa. We found a great deal on the beach and the beach was never crowded except for the night of 4th of july, which was awesome on the beach.

I think not having a car would be a real pain in any of these areas. You're going to be limited on where you can eat, so may wind up spending more than a rental car would cost in extra food expenses.
