Clearwater Beach

Hi

My DH has it in his head that on our next visit, next August, he would like to visit Clearwater Beach. We will be driving down to Tampa to do Busch Gardens anyway.

Does anyone have any hotel recommendations? Is there lots to see and do there?

We are staying one night here.. in about 8 days actually! woo hoo

I did a lot of our research on tripadvisor.com and also on all the travel website (expedia, hotels.com, travelocity etc.) to gather reviews & pictures. Since we were arriving in the evening (10pm) & checking out the very next day, we chose a hotel that was not directly ON the beach because, for the price difference we wouldn't get much use out of the convenience.

If we were going to stay longer I would absolutely ONLY choose a hotel that is directly on the beach with direct beach access. I think there is a Holiday Inn Express that I was considering.

What we did end up choosing is the La Quinta Inn. It's only a few miles away, it's clean, it was a great rate, it had great reviews, and it has FREE BREAKFAST. It fit the bill for what we needed.

I am looking forward to checking out, driving to the beach & then spending the morning/afternoon on the white sand.

Just thought I'd say that Clearwater Beach is my favorite beach in the area. It's a big wide beach with great sand, lots of activity, a pier, etc. It's always our top choice for a beach day trip from Orlando. I can't comment on places to stay, etc. as we usually do it as a day trip.

We have stayed in the Trade Winds Grand Island. Wonderful location right on the gulf. And they have everything there you could want. (And we stayed there as we were going to Busch Gardens. It was quite a drive there and back. But manageable.)
