Cleaning your house before vacation?

I'm heading for the world in less than 24 hours. and I'm cleaning like a crazy women in between packing. Does any one else clean their house before going on vacation? Or am I the only nut job?

It is hard enough to come back from WDW.....it would be harder if I came home to messy house.

I absolutely clean before any vacation. I hate coming home to a dirty house.

Not any more than usual. Well other than double and triple checking that all dishes are washed and all trash is taken out. If it's a longish trip, we check to try and use up and perishable food that won't make it.

YES!!! I've even been known to wash that mornings towels and dry them. I have also vaccumed as we are BACKING out the door to leave. If I were only so efficient when we AREN'T leaving for vacation

Me too! I can't come home to a messy house. It used to drive DH nuts, but he has since realized that it's easier to just lend a hand and go with the flow. Lucky me!

We always clean before we leave. Dust, vaccum, clean out fridge, last of laundry etc.. We have some friends that have their house cleaned while they are gone. They actually plan on it and have someone come in when their on vacation. I think it's a great idea! They usually have them come in the day before they come home.

Me too, but partly b/c I'm morbid. I just keep thinking, if we die in a plane crash or something, I don't want people seeing my house dirty! Too bad I don't realize that I could die anytime, anyplace...then maybe I'd always have a clean house!

I clean my house as well. Light cleaning that is.... The dishes must be done. We take the trash out. I make the bed. Sometime I do the laundry and sometimes I don't it depends. It's just my husband and myself so our house it's really that dirty.

You are not alone. This is exactly me too! I am really not that much of a neat freak when I am home!

I always clean before going on vacation. I like to come home to a clean house and not have to worry about cleaning.

I didn't once. Kinda left it in a mess. Clothes folded and stacked on the couch, but not put away. My MIL was frantic when we called to check in. Someone had robbed us! Destroyed the house! Clothing thrown everywhere!

Shocked, but knowing MIL was prone to exaggeration, we asked her if the tv and electronics were there? Yes. The guns in the gun cabinet? Yes.

Turns out the cats had knocked over the laundry and the house was already a bit of a mess..... Oh well.

I guess I'm really neurotic - I superclean the house right before we leave, and the cleaning people come in a clean right before we get home.

Of course during our summer trip the boys are usually home from college so who knows what it looks like between the day we leave (house clean) until the cleaning people come (right before we get home). I really don't even want to think about that!

Pre-vacation is the best cleaning I ever do -- I even took an extra day off work before the trip this year to make sure I had time to clean AND pack. We have friends house sit our cats while we're gone and I don't want them to know what slobs we normally are

I do the exact same things. DH was ready to strangle me in September before we left. I made him go sit in the truck right before we left for the airport so I could vaccum and mop the foyer as I was walking out the back door.

I am doing the same thing right now actually. I am going in for knee surgery on Tuesday and I need this house clean before hand!!

Nope!!! I'm a nut too!!! I clean the house top to bottem, even run the vacuum after DH puts the bags in the car, run the dishwasher and clean out the coffee pot but only after we have a cup in the morning.
