Cleaning rock?

I think this is the first time my DH has ever said "ask on the DIS, they know everything." so, don't let me down!

We are replacing some shrubs in our yard and in order to do that we had to remove all of the surrounding rock and put new plastic down.

Now we have a pile of dirt and rocks and want to reuse the rocks, they just need to be cleaned.

Short of moving all of these rocks to our driveway where they could be hosed off and then moving them back to where they should go, is their an easier way to clean the rocks?

Tamie--I would leave 'em where they lie, and use insecticidal soap to wash them off, so you do not damage the dirt or the shrubs.

Either that or get that wheelbarrow going!!!

Rocks are rock, they are supposed to be dirty. Just put them back in place and hose them down a little. Nature will clean them off for the most part.

These are covered in dirt though Jeff. I don't expect them to be sparkling clean, that's not worth it. They are also in a location that partially covers them so they won't get much rain to clean them off.

I guess we'll just have to haul them to the driveway and clean them off.

If you're going to wash them off, a pressure washer might work better than a garden hose. Just a suggestion.

Go to hardware store or Home Depot, get a spray nozzle for your hose that will create the most pressure (sales person will help you find correct one), leave them where they are and spray them clean. You will not get them any cleaner by doing it in the driveway. You will only get (or maybe Joe will) a workout, but no cleaner.
