Cleaning Hardwood Floors?

Rinse out the mop frequently. Otherwise you smear a lot of the dirt from the first area you mopped onto the second area you are mopping.

(Doesn't work for Pledge Wipes or other mops pre-charged with cleaner; you'll use up too many of them. If you use them, follow up with a plain water floor rinse with frequent mop rinsings.)

I have light yellow wood flooring in one room of my house, and I can't figure out what to do clean it. I think it is pine. One of my grandkids spilled water on the floor and there is a definite stain from that - it looks whitish around the edges of where the water was spilled and then dark in the middle. This has made me VERY nervous about cleaning it with anything that has water in it. So all I've done is sweep, but I would like to be able to clean it better - and ideally get rid of that water mark.

First I'd like to say HI neighbor - I'm in Glen Head!!! I also use murphy's squirt and mop on my wood floors - just got them refinished last month.

 Thanks for the advice! My boyfriend and I actually looked in Glen Head, that's where we will probably buy a house next year! Good to know there are other Disney lovers on LI! :)

Maintaining hardwood floors clean requires consistency and dedication. It is advised to sweep or vacuum daily and mop high-traffic areas like the dining room and the kitchen with a damp mop.
It is important to use a damp mop rather than a soaking wet mop because water will ruin the wood.
Do also note not to use a vacuum with a beater bar attachment, which can scratch the wood floor's finish.
It is important to choose the right hardwood cleaner that meets your floors’ needs and is specifically made for hardwood floors. You should talk to your flooring manufacturer, they can often recommend a specific cleaner to use for their product.

Here's hoping that the OP solved the issue. After all, it has been almost 14 years since this thread was posted :badpc:

If they used the correct product, those floors still look new.
