I know a lot of us are cleaning out to move, get ready for the holidays, or just because we really, really need too. :teeth: I thought it would be nice to have a little support group. Today I am working on the bathroom. I did the basic cleaning, y'know like the tub , sink, toilet. I still need to do under the sink, but I'm putting it off for a bot while I Dis. :) Then I am going to do the walls with a magic eraser. I just love those things.

I made a big mistake in the boy's room. I started boxing up some smaller toys just to get them out of the way. I carefully went through & seperated Zachary's toys from Peter's & threw all of the junk toys in a trash bag. Wouldn't you know I got busy, left it there & they took everything back out! LOL Now I have to start all over in there. I just realized that the kids are out of school next Monday & Tuesday, so I want to get as much done as possible before then.

So, how is everyone else's Clean Sweep going?

So far so good. I'm half way thru the game room. I need to go thru the book cases and get rid of some of those.

I have gone thru both full bathrooms and have gotten rid of the junk. There is nothing to go thru in the 1/2. No cabinets.

I'll start (again) on the master closet. It will take me a couple of days.

Good Luck to all,

I went through the bookcase in my bedroom. I have a ton of nursing books, I boxed those up. I also took all of the pictures out of my photo albums & placed them in acid free boxes. It takes up a lot less room. I kept my Disney albums, since we pull those pics out a lot. :)

I need to go through my children's books. I hate to get rid of nay b/c they are all at different ages, 13, 8 & 3, & the youngest may be interest in many of the books later on. I seem to have an obsession with buying books. :)

Tomorrow we are taking another load to Goodwill. I'll just be soooo glad when this is over. :)

I am in. Just not sure when I will get around to doing my big clean sweep. But I will support the others.:Pinkbounc

The show Clean Sweep has changed my life - really! I think Peter comes up with some very good ideas. I have been getting rid of a lot of things that I have been holding on to for no real reason. I am in the process of clean sweeping my entire house so it will take a while.

My latest accomplishments have been going through ALL of the kids books (2 big bookcases and the shelves in their rooms) and took out all the ones they no longer read. I filled FOUR trash bags and brought them to the library for their annual book sale.

I also went up in the attic and filled another FOUR trash bags with clothes DH & I had stored up there but will never wear again. (We figured that up in the attic was out of sight out of mind)

I had both kids sit with me and go through ALL of their clothes in their drawers (including socks & underwear) and we took out things that no longer fit or things they won't wear anymore. I filled several bags and brought them to the goodwill box.

DS9 has started going through his room with me. The kid is a pack rat like the rest of us and had one entire drawer in his bureau filled with the packages Pokemon cards came in. I asked him what value they gave to his life and if he liked them so much then why were they just hiding in a drawer? (Thanks Peter!) He managed to throw out ALL the wrappers - yay! He is also letting go of things he had in his room and didn't even know were+ there.

I have lots and lots of magazines to go through and I pass them on to other family members. I went through the craft room and got rid of various scrapbooking and rubber stamping things I would never use. We had lots of misc. items from around the house and we donated a back van load full of stuff to the humane society for their yard sale and then another load to the church for their sale. These sales were in September & October so I had the dates in mind when I was cleaning.

The house is still a mess and there is still lots to go through....but at least I am making progress. I stayed away from yard sales this season so I wouldn't buy anymore stuff! :)

yes, I know, a novel......but this is real big to me right now!

If I could just get the folks from Clean Sweep to do my entire house and then have Clinton and Stacy from What Not to Wear redo my wardrobe, life would be just about perfect!! :Pinkbounc

well............I'm clean sweepin!

We tore down the ceiling and the walls in the basement family room over the last couple of weeks, and everything in there had to come out. YEARS of junk! It was the family room- the kids played there, we didnt we didnt care!

Well, 5 pickup truck loads later...it's cleaned out

Now, I'm working on the area under the cellar stairs. The area that I keep throwing things..whats under there? Who knows, but I'll find out. I just found a BAG of hats/mittens etc.. that I have no idea when the last time was I saw them. Making a pile for the local drop in center, and the winter clothing drive they have locally.

After this- its up to the living room, I've got to get the room changed around for winter, to make room for the tree etc.. so I've got no choice!

count me in, but what are ya'll going to do with the stuff that go into yard sale or donate pile....I am running out of room. Maybe the garage and park outside for a few weeks till i finish?

I am starting with the hardest first, the office...or what used to resemble a office at one time.

We have a Goodwill nearby, so we just keep making runs over there. I have DH do it, I don't want to be known as the "crazy woman who drops things off at Goodwill every week." LOL ;)

I've got a feeling we may need all of the support we can get. :)

I do the same- however our drop in center will also pick up stuff i you have a load of it.

I've got 3 piles going- throw out, drop in, and winter clothing drive. notice theres no keep pile? Well, if this stuff has been in my basement/garage/closet this long and I havent need it- chances are I wont! Obviously there are some things that I will keep but not much!

I have dusted our bedroom while I was cleaning off both dressers. I could have grown tomatoes it was so thick.

The book shelves are still calling. I am having a hard time getting rid of the kiddie books because DS is 7 years younger than my girls.

I think I'll tackle the linen closet. I like buying sheets. We all have at least 6 sets for each bed. Time to "clean out"

GO GO GO GO GO GO GO!!!!!!!!!!

How about posting this every monday so we can see how we are doing? Just a thought...might be the incentive that some of us need to keep going... :)

I have completed the upstairs bedrooms and am almost done with the main living area. The office paperwork is killing me!!!!!

Next it is on to the basement storage area--holiday and toys and who knows what. We also have boxes from when my mom moved in with us last year that we haven't gone through yet. Lots of little stuff in there!

I had a three day garage sale over an 8 day period (games and work) then I sent 10 good sized boxes to Sherwood Center yesterday. My garage is clean again and I can get my car in.

:sunny:

I'm trying to get my Mom to do a clean sweep. She has a one bedroom apt.. Supposedly, my brothers went and cleaned her kitchen for her so she can move back in and they're going to clean her bedroom & living room next. She's been at one brothers house since July after being in the hospital and having back surgery in September......

They filled the dumpster just from the kitchen junk... maybe now she'll be able to move around in the apartment!!!!

Today I worked on the boys room. Now I'm exhausted. Thankfully I found almost all of the pieces of Zachary's Leap Frog train set. :teeth: I haven't seen most of those pieces since last Christmas! LOL Tomorrow DH is going to buy new blinds for all of the windows. Next Thursday we will meet with the agent & get this home up for sale. Is that when the real stress begins?
