CLEAN people needed!..

We stayed at the AKL & Polynesian Resorts in May, & the Boardwalk Inn in August. As much as the Poly is our favorite resort, I have to say the Boardwalk Inn has become our second favorite after just one week - mostly because of the decor, cleanliness & upbeat atmosphere. There is a freshness about the rooms with the colors & furnishings & the hallways were always bright & clean. I agree they may want to just look at some pictures & decide for themselves but I hate to say that after several visits to the AKL (concierge & deluxe) we've decided it it just too relaxing & dark for us. We'll always visit for breakfast at Boma's but need to have a more bright atmosphere to go with our Disney spirits. Spoodles restaurant on the Boardwalk & the hotel store were also very clean & nice! Good Luck.:D

YC is going through major renovations.....requesting a new room there would probably be pretty safe. Unfortunately, we all know that wherever you tell them to stay, there is gonna be a problem. I also suggest you tell them about the different hotels and let them make the decision.

Pooh6890 is onto something. I was going to suggest the same thing. You can call WDW and ask what the rehab schedule is for the hotels. Yacht and Beach are both due for renovations. Picking a place that's recently been painted and with freshened up interiors might be exactly what is needed.

Too Funny Trekker but poor Delany is going to mess up on vacation and call her friend Farina.

I have a friend who brings her own little silk sleeping bag no matter where she goes. She knows she's nuts, but.....well, she's clean-nuts.

Anyway....

We went to AKL with four families. Two families had very bad hygiene problems in rooms they were assigned. To compensate for one of the rooms, AKL management comped a dinner four our entire party at Boma (and you can bet that room was cleaned, and carefully. Problem resolved).

The other room had a severe odor problem that cleaning would not resolve. The family was upgraded from a standard to a deluxe savanah room, which was clean and odor-free.

NO resort is perfect, because EVERY resort has cut its cleaning staff. You must make this clear to your friend. Perhaps she or husband can inspect the room completely before unpacking and ask for a new rooms if they find flaws. I'd also recommend they travel with a small bottle of Cinch.

We were given a free lunch at beaches and Cream ($100 for 8 of us) when the first room wasn't clean. And we were refunded one night at the "rack" rate of our second room because of mold/mildew smell. It was still a pain to deal with though.

Send those poeple to my house and a few days of cleaning horse stalls and taking care of sheep and I will have them whipped into shape.

I'd love to walk through her kitchen with my barn shoes on;) ;)

Oh Rneighh! :p  (my favorite smilie is gone!)

Seriously-the new DVC BCV-worth a look...

plus great location.

Ok, a *serious* suggestion now....

When we booked our trip for this past January, I'd specified that our non-smoking "preference" was a "requirement", due to allergies.

Somehow, a (thoughtful but) overzealous CM at CRO put our room down under the Special Requests or Special Guests (can't remember?) department for some sort of "super cleaning" for people with, I guess, mega-hyper-super-allergies.

Maybe you (or they) could try that route. I suppose it would be up to you (or them) to determine whether or not they're physically or mentally allergic. ;)

I totally agree with the poster who said they would never be satisfied with anyones cleaning but their own. I know people like this. A few years ago we went to WDW with my sister and her fiancee and stayed at Coronado Springs Resort. Our rooms were close by so I'm pretty sure we had the same housekeeper. We were completely satisfied with our room and I'm pretty fussy about a clean room myself. Mr. fiancee crabbed and nit picked about their room the whole trip. Nothing was right as far as he was concerned. He actually ended up staying and cleaning instead of going to the parks with us one day. In dealing with clean freaks it's best to just let them do it themselves and be done with it because nothing will ever be good enough for them. It's just the way they are.

Wow! Thanks for all the replies -- both funny and serious.

I think I'm going to book AKL and explain the situation & have them note under special requests "EXTRA CLEAN ROOM"

Hey, I don't care about all the snide looks they'll receive from housekeeping! :)

:D

Your post made me laugh, Delaney. My mother (bless her heart) is the same way.

Oh my!!! and she still married him... That right there would be my signal to turn tail and run, as fast as I could. Can you imagine the demands he will make on her once they share a living space?

Give them a list of the hotels included, with the dates they were built and opened, inside a basket of cleaning supplies.

I have friends who bring their own sponges, soap, cleaning supplies etc., and scrub their room down before they use it or let their kids use them.

To each his own.

this is gonna be a lose, lose situation for you. I agree with the previous poster...give them a list, or they can go to disney.com and look up the resorts and let them do the leg work. you are trying to be helpful for them, but if it is not to their specifications you will get the blame (i've been there). You could tell them once they decide you will gladly help with the ressie. :jester:

I too would give them a list of choices and let them decide. It would be an unpleasant situation if they were not satisfied.
