Another nervous Priceline wan-to-be price line user. How did you get over the anxiety the first time?

It is very nerve=wracking, but we only needed one night so I figured how bad could it be? We were going to sleep then get up and leave. I may be more nervous if I was booking for my entire vacation.

Best bet is to stay with the 3 and 4 star or resort properties. Also, I have read that bidding close to your dates of travel is better for getting your lower bid accepted. I started at $20 and ended up with $32 (or maybe 34, don't remember). With taxes is was like $43. If you are travelling at a peak time, then maybe the deals aren't as good.

I only used it once, but would do it again for a 1 or 2 night stay.

I learned how to use Priceline a few months ago and have saved serious $ on hotel stays in Boston and New York. I learned from a travel website called:

www.Biddingfortravel.com

Check it out...There are threads like you see here on the DIS where people post what they bid, and the location they won. You can also get advice/bidding strategies. There is also a list of hotels Priceline uses.

Hi all

I need suggestions too for a clean inexpensive hotel close to disney for the night before our package begins. I would stay at an All stars or Pop but because we are 5 it would mean two rooms (and higher costs)

Any suggestions please? I have never used priceline and am nervous about it!

I wouldn't use Priceline if I needed a hotel for 5. Most of the Priceline hotels will just be regular rooms with 2 beds. (Actually, I think Priceline only guarantees accomodations for 2.) If I needed room for 5, I would either stay at the Doubletree Guest Suites at DTD or Buena Vista Suites (there are a few other reasonable rate places that hold 5.) The Buena Vlsta suites will probably be the less expensive of the 2.

We are a family of 6 and stayed at Holiday Inn Nikki Bird Resort in December and although the outside is an older motel it is nicely updated and new carpets were being put in while we were there. The property is huge and we were near the back so it was quiet.
The one thing we do insist on is safety and cleanliness and it was definately clean, safe and we loved it! It is one mile from WDW-there is a set of lights as you leave parking lot, turn right and drive-no more lights or anything until you are on WDW property--never had trouble with traffic. Room had 2 double beds, a pull out sofa bed, mini fridge, microwave, in room safe--the 3 pool areas were gorgeous and it was only $65 a night! For someone on a budget it was perfect!
It was a great price and it is difficult to find accomodations to hold more than 4-5 people without paying high prices--we found it and trusted others reviews on it--pleasantly surprised and would stay again!
