Hi. We are arriving in August for a 7 night stay at Pop Century. However, we need a hotel for one night before our package starts. Could any of you suggest a decent, clean hotel that is close to DW. Thanks for your help!!! :earsboy:

Try priceline for a nice hotel, I did this last year and got the hilton at the airport for 35.00 a night. Good luck

I agree, Priceline is great.

I got the Hilton at DTD the past three years for $60 a night.

I have never used Priceline. If I wanted a Hotel like Hilton DTD what would I put in? Is it a 3 star or 4 star?? How do youassure yourself of the area and quality for DTD area? Thanks so much for any advice you could give.

Carol--
Not to nitpick but the hotels you list are categorized by PL as resorts not 4* hotels. AFAIK PL doesn't offer any 4* hotels in the Disney zone so you'd get upgraded BUT if you bid on a 4* hotel you don't have any recourse if a 3* hotel has been re-rated as a 4* hotel or if you get a hotel that hasn't been reported.

Go over to www.biddingfortravel.com and www.betterbidding.com. Look at the listings. http://p070.ezboard.com/fpricelinea...waltdisneyworld.showMessage?topicID=650.topic

For example a Four Star in the Disney area can include the following (all of which I have gotten)

Marriott Orlando World Center
DTD Hilton
DTD Wyndam Palace
Gaylord Palms.

If you can't live with ALL of the options this is not the way to go.

I think the Hotel Royal in DTD is a 3* hotel.
A 3 star cannot come up if you bid on a 4 star. The only way for it to come up a 4 star is if Priceline changed the star level of the hotel. When you bid on a 4 star, you can only get a 4 or higher (resort level). Priceline will never lower your star quality, unless they rate the hotel higher than it should be. If they were to do that, you may have some recourse (not sure if they still do that but they did at one time). I know Hotwire rates their hotels a star level higher than Priceline. Priceline usually rates theirs like AAA's. As you have stated, it is possible to get one at a 4 star that no one has gotten before, but not one that they rate as a 3 star.

I re-worded my post. My point was you have litte recourse if a hotel previously rated 3* has been re-rated as a 4*. There isn't a big difference in the descriptions on the PL website. The reason I mentioned the possibility is Hotel Royal is rated a 3* hotel. I suspect they could justify rating it as a 4* and possibly even a resort after they re-open.

I just came back and I stayed at the Hampton Inn Lake Buena Vista around Palm Parkway for two nights. We loved it. It is off exit 68, I-4 (route 535). They had free hot breakfast. Very clean. We wish we had stayed there the entire stay instead of going over to Pop Century. Also there is a short cut to disney marketplace. If you are exiting the mcdonald's go straight instead of turning onto route 535, follow that street and it will lead right to disney marketplace. There are also many places to eat right there and also a walmart a few miles down. Next time we will be staying at this hampton inn instead of onsite.

We stayed at the same HI
Hampton Inn Orlando/Lake Buena Vista
8150 Palm Parkway
Orlando, Florida 32836
Telephone: 1-407-465-8150

We thought it was a great hotel value. We paid $44 a night. All HI hotels offer hot breakfasts. Great location too! You are getting a bigger hotel room than POP (not all but many rooms here have fridges, ask at check in), hot breakfast and just a hop away from WDW.

Prncess674, how did you get $44 a night, i went on their website and put in aug19-21 and was quoted $97 a night!! We travel alot because of my daughter's irish dancing and love Hampton inn. I would love to get a good rate here for our 2 nights before we move to BWV. ANy help would be appreciated. Thanks

Try AAA rate and then just put 1 adult. they try to tack on more per person for some reason. Also you are allowed atleast 2 adults per room and kids stay free in the same room so the additional charges are bogus. Try AAA rate with 1 adult and the rate I got for your dates drop to $62.

Hi.. I am staying here for one night on August 10 and paying $79.00. I would love to get a cheaper rate if I could. Can you get the AAA rate even though I am not a AAA member?

Thanks

Does anyone have any suggestions not using Priceline?

Which would be better, staying on site at a Value resort for 1 night or finding a place on 192? We need a room for 4. We will be at the parks until late on a Friday night and then leaving by 9:00 (at the latest) on Saturday morning for the airport. (We will probably be at Westgate Villas the week before)

Money is not so much the object here as far as the Value resort, but if we stayed off site we would want something inexpensive. (but no roach motels!)

Thanks!

I would always pick a Value resort onsite over an inexpensive hotel offsite. It's just a matter of personal preference--the Value resorts have fun theming, free transportation, and a convenient food court.

For our last night we are staying at the airport Marriot. Got it for $44 per night on Priceline and heard it is quite nice. But you could also get some other nice hotels in the Resort category for not much more.

We stayed at a Wingate hotel right near the airport. Quiet, clean, nice little indoor pool, great hot, full breakfast each morning. Got it from Priceline with a 3 star bid for $32. Upon arrival we were put into a very large first floor suite because we needed 2 beds. Staff was great. I had heard that sometimes when you use Priceline or the like you get substandard service. Not here. We really liked it. Sorry all we did was sleep in it - left early next morning for port.

Just a little note on Priceline. After my bid was accepted, I called the hotel about 2 hours later to confirm my reservation and put in the request for 2 beds.

Im sorry to be rude, but what kind of question is this :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Obviously, you have to be a AAA member to get the rate, and YES, they will ask you for it during check in!

Hi all

I need suggestions too for a clean inexpensive hotel close to disney for the night before our package begins. I would stay at an All stars or Pop but because we are 5 it would mean two rooms (and higher costs)

Any suggestions please? I have never used priceline and am nervous about it!

TA!
