clean and cheap hotel near downtown disney?

We are booked in on disney property May 1-8, but now want to drive down a day early, so we are looking for a hotel to spend 4/30/10 at that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, but is clean and secure. I would like to stay near downtown disney, anyone have any suggestions?

I found the Regal Sun at $61 a night, but there is a $15 resort fee.

Has anyone stayed there or near there recently and have any thoughts?

All the hotels at Hotel Plaza Blv are "secure",as it IS on Disney Property.
I stayed at Regal Sun & Best Western witch was perfectly ok.
Royal Plaza & Double Thee was better and cleaner,but for 1 night Regal Sun should to just fine.
Regal Sun are also usually the cheapest on HPBLV,and 80$ night cant usaly be beaten,if you dont use priceline. There you can often get this hotel for about 50-55 but with added tax and resort fee,you will be close to 80$ either way.

I would suggest the Regal Sun Resort, my fiance and I went in January of this year.

Have been reading alot of reviews on Trip Advisor for this hotel. Most seemed very happy with it but of course there were some real bad ones. Anyone recently been there and can give me their opinion? And how was the shuttles? On the reviews someone said 2 buses during the day but when I called they listed about 5 different times throughout the day going to the parks and said last bus coming back was an hour after park closes (whichever park is last on stop). Any information would be greatly appreciated! Still so confused if I am going this year. There seems to be alot of pluses to it, seperate bedroom, free breakfast, free shuttles, places within walking distance. But if it is dumpy I am not so sure.

We have booked at Embassy Suites for our night. It is about 1.5 miles from DTD, off the same I-4 exit, and we were able to go to Cheapostay.com to get it for $88 after taxes.

That includes a free breakfast buffet, with a cook to order omelette station.

I will report back on how it is after our trip.
