I am a MS teacher and every year I have a different theme in my classroom: western, 50's, space, luau, etc. After my first trip to WDW over Spring Break I am now hooked on Disney! Do you think a Disney theme would be too "babyish" for MS kids? I was thinking of using the High School musical idea: We're all in this together, plus a little something from Jump In and also the Robinson's: Move Forward. And of course using the Fab Four as basics. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Also, ideas of where to find cool decorations would be appreciated. Thanks!:cheer2:

Hi there! I am a MS teacher too (8th grade).:cool1: I like your idea of putting a theme to your classroom each year. I use fabric for my bulletin boards, so maybe you could go to a fabric store and get disney themed fabric. A lot of my students love pirates of the caribbean. You could get a ton of pirate type items at orientaltrading.com.

I'm a MS teacher too-7th. That's a great idea and I don't think it's too babyish they're really babies at heart, at least 7th graders are. I have to ask, how on earth do you afford to redo your room each year? I buy new supplies but with a little one and one on the way I'm stressing about how to even get those for September.

Anyway, nice to hear from another MS teacher. Everyone always says I'm crazy, nice to know I'm not the only one.

I too am a teacher (special ed.) but was responding because I have a middle schooler. My dd will be going into 7th and loves HSM. With the sequel coming out this summer, I think that would be a good choice ;)

I would also ask/look over on the creative DIS boards. They may be able to give you designs with your name on them to tie the theme into you and what areas you teach. These can be iron on, or printed out for signage or magnets. . .

DH teaches 6th grade. He has this "Survivor" game that he uses as a review, so every year we create this Survivor-themed bulletin board. We use a black bulletin board paper as a background, use a vine border, make huge palm trees from construction paper, and tack beanie baby animals to the bulletin board (small tree frogs and bats).

This year, DH had a POTC theme. We used the same bulletin board, but added POTC birthday party supplies for some of the decorations: POTC stickers on die-cut flags for the bulletin board and the nametags that go on their desks, POTC treasure boxes filled with POTC fruit snacks from WalMart, plastic gold coins and bead necklaces for winners of his "Survivor" game.

I also had a $10 off $10 coupon to JC Penney, so we found a POTC t-shirt there and cut out the logo on the front of the shirt to make it look like a flag for his bulletin board.

Mr. Potato Head dressed like a pirate with his DTD gear. The kids love to change his clothes for the season.

I burned a CD of "A Pirate's Life For Me" and some Adventureland area background music to use during his "Survivor" game.

The kids loved it!

Hi everyone. I am a 4th grade teacher and I usually have a them every year. I almost always order my supplies from http://reallygoodstuff.comLast year my theme was "welcome to our team" and I incorporated sports stuff. This year I was thinking of using their "welcome aboard" supplies (although I'm not crazy about the design) and using some Disney pirate stuff as well. Does anyone have any other ideas? I would also need to know where to find stuff to go along with the theme.

hi there!
I'm a 6-8th French teacher-I believe all middle school teachers are a bit nutso. :D

Glad to know I'm not the only one out there!

Our middle school did HSM last spring for our spring musical and let me tell you we had some definite show lovers and show haters out there. With it being Disney, you always run the danger of those anti-Disney kids or the ones who think they're "too cool" for it.

That being said, a co-worker of mine has Mickey up all over in her room and I plan on making a bulletin board this fall including the "fab five" made from my cricut diecut machine.

I'd love to see whatever you get done or what you have done in the past!

My DS - 7th grade - loves HSM and when I asked him he said it would make for an awesome room

Go for it - I taught 6-8 grade for 12 yrs (just switched to elem. this year) and even the most hardened inner-city boys in my class had a soft spot for Mrs. S.'s Disney bobbleheads, posters, screen savers, toys, etc. and I would catch them tapping their toes to the instrumental disney music I sometimes play in class during project times! Kinda funny to see a 13 yr old self-proclaimed gang member mouthing the words to Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious while gluing a Conestoga wagon together for an Oregon Trail project!
