Classes and Seminars

I'm doing the Fall Advantage starting June 3rd (lifeguard!) and I want to take either the Disney Heritage or the Environment and Sustainability seminars that will be offered in the fall. When and how do I sign up for those?

Also, I've heard a lot of good things about the Disney Heritage, but I've heard almost nothing about Environment and Sustainability. Anyone have any opinions about it?

On a related note, I need to take a night class at the local community college while I'm down there. How do I work with my manager to make sure I can leave by a certain time twice a week?

I don't think you're 100% guaranteed time off for the class, especially during the busy season, but if you're able to talk to them/email them far enough in advance, they should be able to work with you.

In your "Welcome to the Team" email there is a link to the educational classes website. On this site is where you sign up. I think you need to wait until April 1st but I could be wrong so you may want to check.

As for time off for classes at a community college. I don't really think this will be possible. Your direct manager does not make the schedule, there is a whole department that does scheduling across property. Schedules vary each week. You can put in a standing request on the HUB to not be scheduled during this time, but as a CP you are expected to have full availability. You may find yourself trying to give away shifts or switch shifts with other CMs. Ask your trainer when they go over HUB with you to show you how to make this request. and do it ASAP.

Is it possible for you to take an online class instead? That would be much more accommodating to CP schedules
