Clarion Resort in Kissimmee

If it's the Clarion Suites Resort World, I would run far away if I were you! There have been several posts about this place (but I'm not sure if the search function is enabled at the moment). In any case, this is a budget timeshare hotel that claims it's a top rated resort - I use the term loosely. We (along with several other Dis folks) had terrible service, misinformed (better term to use would be lied to by management), extremely rude management, complex is split by a major road, no restaurant, small pool, broken security lights, no housekeeping, no shuttle service at night as it's too far from Disney (forced to take a cab or stuck at hotel without a rental car), moldy bathrooms, none of the activities that were supposed to be offered were available, extremely hostile timeshare sharks and worst of all, terrible location!

I normally don't post such negative reviews, but this experience was one of the worst of my life (I spent the first night on the phone crying to vacation club rep)! I have to tell you, this company uses marketing and fashions language around in such a way on their brochures and website, that once you arrive, you think that you're in the wrong place - as an English teacher I took the head office to task for using the word "resort" and "full serve" restaurant to name a few. After several months of fighting with them, we were given $300.00 in certificates to be used at other hotels within the company - this is far less than what we paid for a week, but we joined a vacation club (another big mistake that we quickly cancelled once we returned from this awful hotel) and so we had no choice in our accommodations at the time.

I wish you luck in your planning. If you are set on staying at this hotel, I wish you luck in obtaining truthful information from the staff at this place (it used to be owned by the same people who owned Star Island Resort across the street, with a small percentage owned by Choice Hotels International who is the parent company of Clarion and Comfort hotels). Perhaps they've improved in the 3 years since we've stayed there, but since we had one negative experience after another, I promised to be honest with anyone who inquired about this place.

Good luck, Tiger

Thanks for the comments. I think it is called Clarion Resort Oaks, the one we were looking at. I don't know if this is the same one you are talking about or not. But I appreciate your comments because I certainly don't want to stay somewhere that is dirty and there is not good service! Especially for a week on vacation when you want to enjoy yourself, the last thing you want to worry with is something like that. Thanks again, Anyone else commments good or bad???

I did a little research and from what I can find, it is the same place. More specifically, as I said in my original post, this complex is divided into 2 sections by a major road. Here is what I found:

1. Clarion Suites Oaks at Resort World
2794 North Poinciana Boulevard
Kissimmee, FL 34746

and

2. Clarion Suites Spas at Resort World
2800 North Poinciana Boulevard
Kissimmee, FL 34746

It seems as if they've changed their name once again - after all of my research I discovered (as is quite common in the hotel industry as well), that timeshare properties change ownership and names quite often. The difference is that hotels have nothing to hide, whereas I discovered that many timeshare properties do because they greatly mislead guests with promises of amenities that just aren't there. It's funny to me as an English teacher because they sure have perfected using language to make themselves seem much better than they are - "resort", "spa" and "suites." You will find none of these in place at this complex - it's even more funny that they call the rooms units, but for advertising purposes they are called suites. Last time I stayed in a suite, it wasn't falling apart!

Again, I wish you luck. If you do a search, you can find some reviews, but I would be leary of anyone who owns a unit here. When I was trying to get compensation for my stay here, the unit owners who I spoke with were very biased and in my opinion, blind to many of the problems that we discovered within 2 minutes of entering this place. We quickly discovered that this is common in the timeshare world (we didn't own a timeshare here, but were sent here through a vacation club who did). Hopefully, they've corrected their problems. In my opinion, there are much better timeshare units that can be rented in Orlando, or Kissimmee (I don't know much about Kissimmee as we didn't enjoy our stay here - much prefer Disney World or I-Drive) for that matter.

Good luck. Tiger
