hi- i am still fairly new to this board, and out vacation plans for jan 2005 are still up in the air- especially with christmas coming, i cant put anything away for one month
but- if we keep our tarvel dates the way theya re, we would be there 1-2-05 -1-7-05.
my question is last year we stayed at the clarion maingate and we enjoyed it...especially that was breakfast in the hotel and a Mcdonalds right next door.....
so if we decided to go off property, thats where would would stay, - SO vrs the all star music hotel~ ( and not really saving any money because we would rent a car, but save some $$ by not having to eat in the parks all 3 meals.)
do you have any thoughts on the clarion?
i see from searching on here that some have used priceline.com to get a rate around 30$- i can only find a rate of 66$ ( which is better that 85 or 100 at ASM) i dont think i want to use priceline.....because i dont want to end up with a hotel dont know.- is there a way to make sure you get the clarion maingate on priceline???

thanks

There priceline is a gamble for hotels is if have your heart settle on a certain hotel. Then the best bet is not to use priceline.com .

But if do decide won't use priceline.com here's a excellent website to use biddingfortravel.com .

update, almost 8 mths later.

We stayed there in January 03 for $30/night from priceline. We were very happy there as we had a king bed and a pullout for the kids. It was very clean and we were not too far from the publix and plenty of places to eat. We asked for extra pillows the first day and had them within five minutes. The pool was nice (ok not fancy) with a cute little bar and grill attached and the girl whipped up some finger food really quick for all of us. It was quite a pleasant experience and we hope we can go again for a couple of days around Thanksgiving. It also had a refridge and microwave in the room and we saved tons by having ceral and sweet rolls in the room instead of eating out in the morning. I also made sandwiches a couple of days for lunch that we took into the parks and carried plenty of snacks. We stayed 10 nights so we thought we had gotten a great deal for $300 plus tax. It was my first experience with priceline and very happy with it. I love Disney but just hate to spend so much money to stay there with rooms that seem so much smaller than the average hotel room. (No flames please just my humble opinion) Oh another thing we had planned to take our trailer and stay at fort wilderness but the hotel was cheaper.

We're due to stay at the clarion Maingate at the end of this month - booked last january via Choice Hotels website at $36 a night. We hope it's as good as everyone says. We just want somewhere clean and close to WDW so anything above that is a bonus ( we've also joined Choice hotels 'loyalty' club so we're hoping to get a room upgrade) Will report back when we return to the UK!:D
