Clarify point status - using at start of Use Year

I have a February Use Year. If I book a stay beginning February 1, 2025 with my 2025 points, do I have to borrow those points into this year to make the booking? Or do they magically work for that booking since the system realizes that the 2025 points will be valid for the stay?
My concern stems from the fact that this trip is with my aging parents and there is a 50/50 chance we would have to cancel. If those points ended up in holding I would need them to stay in 2025. If they had to be borrowed in for the booking then they would go to 2024 holding.
We already discussed that a checkin on January 31 is not an option because it would force a borrow situation. But now I'm second guessing my knowledge in general.

Your February 2025 points are valid for that trip. You do not need to borrow them. Enjoy!

Just to add, holding status happens to any points when you cancel a trip or change a trip to use fewer points less than 31 days out.

So, while the points will stay part of your 2025 UY, if you cancel the trip less than 31 days out, the points will end up restricted with the holding status.

In determining what use year points you can use, wipe from your mind the date you decide to go online or call to make the reservation and look only to the dates you will be at Disney. You can alway book a home resort as early as 11-months out from date of arrival and other resorts at 7-months out. Since you have a February use year, the "current" use year points for that Feb 2025 trip (even if you are doing the reservation today, or did it in March 2024) are the Feb 2025 points. If you have any points banked into the Feb 2025 use year from the Feb 2024 use year, you can also use those for the trip, and if you need to borrow Feb 2026 points, you can do so when making the reservation.
