Clarification on Teppan Edo's menu, please.

Has anyone eaten at Teppan Edo recently? I read on another site that they no longer serve white rice and that it's brown rice and beef? Please tell me this isn't true, because I am not able to eat that. The commenter said that they couldn't even get white rice. Also, that there were sesame seeds in everything, and I cannot eat those either. I just spent this week stalking a reservation here and I hope this is not the case.

When I looked at the menu, I thought I would be able to eat the scallops. I am not a big eater, and was wondering how the portion sizes are.

Thanks.

My trip isn't until October so I can't offer much but I've read that they serve a beef rice now too. From what I've read, it sounds like its white rice cooked in beef broth. I've also read that you could request steamed rice. Not really sure how true that is though. I booked Teppan Edo because my son LOVES hibachi, particularly the fried rice. I'm hoping that he'll be satisfied with whatever this new rice is and his protein. Fingers crossed.

When we ate at Teppan Edo in the Fall it was a beef rice. It is not traditional fried rice so if that is what your son loves he very likely will be disappointed.
OP I believe they can cook your meal without sesame seeds for you. I don't know if plain steamed white rice is still available or not. If you have an allergy note it when you make your ADR.
The portion sizes are not large. I do not have a big appetite and I leave satisfied.

@Hopefully, are there pieces of meat in the rice? And is it white rice? If it's white rice cooked on broth, I can swallow it. I cannot swallow actual pieces of beef. I will ask for no sesame seeds, then, thanks. I cannot eat nuts or seeds.

Yes. I was there in Sept of last year and they switched to the sukiyaki beef rice. It doesnt have beef pieces in it, but it is made with a beef broth (kind of like fancy rice a roni). I can't eat it either and I had noted that I have allergies listed on my ressie and they came to the table and talked to me about what I can and cannot have. They then prepared me my meal in the kitchen NOT on the hibachi grill with everyone elses. They brought me the plain white rice since things I am allergic to were obviously in the beef sukiyaki rice. So, I am sure if you can't have it and you can't have the sesame seeds, note an allergy on the ressie and then tell them and they will be more than happy to accomodate your needs.
Also, I'm not a big eater and I come out happy and satisfied every time. My DBF is a big eater and he was just as happy and satisfied with his meal.

Best of luck and enjoy. It is my fave restaurant in WDW!

As PP poster said, it was white rice cooked in beef broth with a strong beef flavor. It did not have pieces of beef in it.
I don't know which report is more current and therefore more correct about the availablity of white rice. I believe it was possible in the Fall, but if the other report you read is more recent, it is possible that white rice may no longer be available.
Good Luck

In February, my rice DID have beef in it. They were very small shredded pieces, but they were there. I do not eat meat and it was impossible to pick around them. Also, we had someone at our table that was allergic to sesame seeds. It was not a problem. Hope you enjoy it!

Thank you, @Hopefully and @TwizzleMouse. I appreciate the feedback. By far the most stressful part of my vacation is trying to find food I can manage to eat.

I know how it goes and that's another reason I love Disney so much. They always make something that I can eat with my allergies and are very accomodating with it. Disney is the place to eat if you have allergies! :thumbsup2

You are welcome for the help, anytime! I hope you have a wonderful, magical vacation!:sunny:

Yep, ours definitely had small pieces of beef in the rice, similar in size to the actual rice grains.
