Clarification on Developer Points

Situation: Was told by guide that would receive 125 "bonus" pts. for being a Disney Shareholder Should we buy in the next week or so, my UY would begin Dec/08.

Question(s):

Will my developer pts. expire at the end of this UY (11/30/08)?

OR

Are developer pts. good for 12 months from buy-in date (say 4/30/09)?

OR

Do I receive the developer pts. at the beginning of my next UY (12/08)?

Just to clarify, also, developer pts. cannot be banked, correct?

Are you buying 160 points? If so, there is a better incentive going on than the one for shareholders if you buy soon. The developer points must be used one year from the date that you purchased, i.e. yesterday 2/25/09. Enjoy!

Developer points expire one year from buy in date, or rather the date you sign the paperwork. They cannot be banked, and since they are not attached to any particular resort, including your home resort, they can only be used to make ressies in the 7 month window.

These are the current incentives for adding points.

Add on 200 or more Vacation Points and receive 270 complimentary Vacation Points — enough for a one-week World Passport vacation in most two-bedroom units.

Add on 160 or more Vacation Points and receive 160 complimentary Vacation Points — enough for a one-week World Passport vacation in most one-bedroom units.

Add on 110 or more Vacation Points and receive 100 complimentary Vacation Points which can be used towards a future Disney Vacation Club vacation.
Plus, load up on Special Savings too!

Receive a credit towards your down payment of $8 per Vacation Point at Disneys Animal Kingdom Villas or $10 per Vacation Point at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort.

We are not members yet, considering in the next 3 weeks purchasing. Just wanted to know how the developer points work/expire for our upcoming year.

Developer points will expire 1 year from your purchase.They can only be booked at the DVC resorts 7 months out.
If it is like the other promo DVC is doing then it will end on March 3rd.So you might want to ask them how long that you have to get in on it.

Developer points are one time use extra points that you get when you have a member referral. Guides are not allowed to sweeten the deal by mentioning this promo.

The developer points are a one time use of points with member referral. With 160 you get 100 and with 225 you get 160 points along with the 8.00 off PP.The developer points have to be used within a year.BTW the incentive ends on March 3rd.

When we joined DVC, we had a choice of so much off per point (I think it was $8 at AKV, $10 at SSR) or we could take double developer points. We chose the double developer points so when we purchased 200 points, we got 400 points that were good for one year. We banked our 2007 UY points, which meant we had 400 (developer) points to use the first year, and 400 (banked 200 plus 200 for 2008 UY) points to use this year. That was the offer last year, but I have seen many variations on here that have been offered since.

It just depends on what special promo Disney is offering at the time you join, if any I guess.

I am just wondering where the confirmation of the March 3rd deadline comes from.

My wife spoke with our guide last night and was told they have no idea when current incentives end. I imagine that's the PC answer they are "supposed" to give, so I am just curious where the 3/3/08 deadline is coming from.

the purchase disounts per piont are the other way arround akv $10 ss $8 or at least that was the disc we got as anew purchaser last week

That date was also confirmed by our Guide.
