Math is not my strong point, especially when the numbers are preceded by dollar signs. I think I get the idea of the DVC now - please bear with me and let me know if this is right:

1. Members make an initial purchase of points, with a one-time payment of about $15,000 or more;

2. Then they pay about $1000+ each year to maintain membership.

3. Additional points may be bought as desired (is there a minimum purchase for this?)

On track? Or way off-base? Thanks a lot.

That's about it.

Obviously, you realize that add ons are limited to availability. You can't buy an add on at a sold out resort othere then the waiting list for repossessed points. So saying "Additional points may be bought as desired" isn't exactly true.

There are minimums, I believe the current minimums are 25 points anywhere(it used to be 25 at your home resort, 50 anywhere), 50 points for Disney financing, 100 for Megical Beginings. I hear the they do let MB go on 50 point contracts, I am not sure, that may be just for HH or VB.

From reading the boards, I figured that additional points can be hard to come by. I'm relieved to know I did actually figure out the process! Thanks again.

The minimum purchase you can get through Disney is a little less money than what you said. It would be 150 pts @ $75 at BCV for $11,250 one time purchase (soon to increase to $80/point). Dues @ BCV are about $3.72 per point, or $558 per year.
This would be for the minimum 150 point purchase.

We did an add on last November at VWL. We wanted to add on 75 points and use MB, but found out you can only use MB for 100 points. Needless to say....we did a 100 point add on!! I think we're addicted!!:D
