Clare's Losin' the Baby Weight......comments welcome!

Hi Everyone,

I am a 31 year old SAHM of three. I just had my third (and final) baby six weeks ago, and it's time to get back into shape. We leave for Disney World on January 30, 2010 and I'm going to be thinner for that trip!

I'm hoping this journal will keep me accountable, motivated and encouraged. Please feel free to stop by any time!

Here's where I'm at:

Current weight: 179
Goal for WDW trip: 155

That is 24 pounds in 16 weeks, which is 1.5 pounds per weeks. That seems agressive, but I'm hoping the fact that I'm nursing will help a little!

How I'm going to get there......
  1. Eat a low-fat, low-carb, "low-CRAP" diet!
  2. Drink at least 120 ounces of water daily.
  3. Get at least 4 hours of exercise in per week (Monday - Sunday). This could be time on the treadmill, walks outside, step class at the gym, etc.
  4. Journal here often with a posted "weigh-in" every Friday (whether my weight is up OR down!).

This first week will be a little tricky on the exercise front as we're doing a lot of traveling for a family funeral. But, I'm committing to healthy eating and lots of water, and I will be back to weigh-in on Friday.
 
Oh, forgot to add.....another goal of mine is to not eat anything after 8pm. This is a tough one for me, but I think it would make a real difference. Being up so late with a newborn makes this soooo tempting, but I know it's no good. So....I'll let you know how it goes :)
 
I love the after 8pm goal! That is probably one of my goals too. I think I need to write down a real list of goals under my journal too. It's amazing how much weight a person can put on while pregnant. lol (if you read my PJ you'll see I gained 76lbs with each of my kids)

Good luck to you. I went from 177 to about 155 in four months mainly with portion control and increased exercise (jogging), so that can be done. My struggle has been losing the last 10 or so.
 

I've been gone all day, and I'm walking out the door for the weekend, but I had to post my Friday update.

As of this morning, I'm at 177 pounds, so that is two pounds gone! Not huge, but better than nothing! I'll be back on Monday!

Two pounds down since Monday is great. Don't expect to lose faster than that.
 
I wasn't home at all on Friday for my check-in, and then I totally forgot about it over the weekend. (bad girl, I know).

So, I'm a couple days late, but here we go.........
On Friday I was at 176, so I was down only one pound from the previous week. Kind of discouraging, but a loss is a loss.

For me, the critical element to weight loss is exercise, and I'm having trouble fitting it in again with an infant, 3 year old and 5 year old in the house! I used to go to the gym consistently, but my baby isn't old enough for their childcare yet so I have to fit in some time on the treadmill during the day when they are occupied/sleeping or in the evenings once my husband gets home. It's tricky, but I'm committed to finding the time! I know once I do the scale will start moving.
