Where can I get the best Clam Chowder Bread Bowl? I know there are a bunch of them around DLR. My son has his heart set on one during some point this summer. I was thinking either La Brea or Pacific wharf? Are those good? Someplace better?

Definitely Pacific Wharf Cafe'. They also have Chinese chicken salad in a breadbowl, which is one of my favorite meals in the parks. Also, you can ask for the bread loaf separate if you like. They just give you the soup or salad in a container. There is a 'secret menu' macaroni and cheese in a breadbowl as well, although my son (27) didn't think the mac and cheese was too great.

Maybe that is why its a secret lol

Thanks so much!! I was hoping this would be the answer. I would rather skip the reservations.

I’ve only ever had the chowder in New Orleans square. Is the chowder at the pacific wharf different?

I don't know if the chowders are different, but I was told the bread is fresher at Pacific Wharf. All the bread bowls are made at the bakery on the wharf, so the bowls in Disneyland are baked the day before while the CA bowls are baked that day.

Sigh - the list of places to try keeps growing and I'm running out of meals!! :rotfl:

Meals? You might want to try grazing through Disneyland! LOL Seriously, my daughters and I make a list of things we want to try and split them. This way, we do not waste any food or money. Plus, this way, we get to try a lot of things we wouldn't be able to try otherwise. DH and DS order what they want and sometimes try what we have. They are not as adventurous as us girls!

Well seeing as it is just DH and I, we may just have to do that! We’ve been saying for weeks we are going to eat our way from Disneyland to San Francisco lol

The bread bowls at Pacific Wharf are Boudins Bread a very famous San Francisco sourdough bread, in my opinion it is the best sourdough bread I have ever had.

Oh, yeah. Pacific Wharf bread bowls are great! It smells so good in there too. It's one of my favorite eateries at DLR!

This is brilliant! Totally copying your idea.

My BF and I tried to do this as much as possible last year and it worked great. So much so that we have a huge list of items to try in a couple of weeks and plan on sharing as much as possible to be able to try as much as possibe.

Even on a hot day, the chowder bread bowls at Pacific Wharf are the best!!! It's the one meal at DLR that I MUST have. The bread is simply amazing. Even though the soup is limited, it doesn't matter. When I start ripping that bowl apart with chowder flavoring, it's amazing.

Be aware that if you get the clam chowder bowl you may not find one actual CLAM in there.... maybe I was just unlucky that day but I swear, not one. I was pretty upset. Probably should have said something, but I try and not let things upset our trips :) even stupid little things.

Based on this comment... if you are heading to SF after a parks visit; skip the chowder bowl at the park and have one at Boudin on the Wharf in SF. :-)

Well that sounds even better!! Our hotel is on Lombard - a good couple miles down from the twisty/windy section, but the Wharf is on our to-do list!!

Take the cable car down, it should be easy to jump on from there... then work off the chowder by walking uphill :P (also the line to get on the cable car going uphill takes FOREVER). Boudin in SF has a sit down restaurant upstairs or counter service downstairs.

My husband and I do this. We share nearly everything we eat so we can try more things throughout the day. If only I could talk my son into this, we could probably hit everything in the parks! lol

We just had the bread bowl on from the Pacific Wharf Cafe and it was delicious! We had it from Boudin in SF just last year, and this tasted as good. Not sure if the clam chowder is comparable, but the bread bowl itself is the star of the show. Definitely shareable as it's huge, even if there isn't that much chowder. We grabbed butter but didn't use it because the bread is that good.
