clam bake reviews??

You'll find a lot of mixed reviews on this one some love it, others hate it. Having read the reviews I went without any major expectations and overall my family enjoyed it. Now I am a seafood lover and I enjoyed the clam chowder and the mussels, the other seafood items didn't wow me but were not awful IMHO and I also liked the non seafood side of the buffet. My Dh who likes some seafood preferred the non seafood items at Cape May. Both my dd's (were 7 & 5 at the time) enjoyed the kids items and also sampled a number of the "adult items" like the clam chowder, mussels (my younger dd loved these) and bbq ribs. I found the desserts to be wonderful--loved the key lime tarts. We are going back again in August--my Dh's request, I like to try new places and did enjoy other buffets more Boma and 1900 Park Fare (which we are also revisiting), that said I am not sorry about going back to Cape May. :thumbsup2

It's pretty good. There is a huge selection and it's all well prepared. Nothing really "Wowed" us, but it was all good and plenty of it.

We ate there in May. I am not a big buffet fan but I enjoyed it. My 22 year old son enjoyed the pasta the most. the clams and shrimp were pretty good also. My 5 year old ate mostly from the adult items and loved the salads. My favorite was dessert. The flan was great!

We usually eat there on every trip. We really enjoy it. For the money you are paying, it's really a pretty good meal. It is a buffet, so it's not top of the line. But just the clams, shrimp and mussels alone, all you can eat, are well worth the money, according to my DH. Oh, and the clam chowder. I eat some of it, but DH eats way more than I do of it and really enjoys it.

That is exactly how we felt. The food was tasty but nothing with a major "WOW" factor to it. DH and I discussed it while there this past weekend. We are glad we tried it but it isn't somewhere we would necessarily return to.

DH loves it and I really like it. We ate there twice on our last trip. Not a huge seafood selection, but there was three different flavors of clams, mussels and other fish. The salad bar and carving station are good. I also loved the cooked veggies.

Cape May is one of my favorite Disney buffets. I love the all you can eat clams and the chowder is great. DH is not a seafood lover but always finds plenty of variety as do the kids. The german chocolate cake and the flan are my favorite desserts. I'm going there for my birthday in 6 days  .

We ate there twice on our last trip. The seafood was good and the carving station had a nice horseradish sauce sauce to compliment the beef. They had a delicious chocolate cake type dessert at the desert bar too. :)

We really enjoy this buffet - nothing stupendous or amazingly mouth-watering on it, but it has consistently good food. One of our favorite non-signature restaurants.
Cheers!

This is usually my favorite restaurant. When it's good, it's great.

The worst experience I've had there was last Christmas Eve, when the buffet was so crowded that the line wrapped all the way around the food and through the restaurant. That was decidedly UNfun. Impossible to get seconds. Hmph.

Try it for one of the first seatings if it's not a hugely popular time of year and you'll love it!

We have ADRs for Cape May in August...I don't know how I missed reading about this buffet until just the other day! I love clams and I think my record is about 4 dozen in one sitting!! So I am super excited for this buffet..even if it's just "ok" it will be well worth the money. I can't afford clams very often at over $6/dozen here in NY! :furious:

We love Cape May, and have been dining there for years. We are not typically buffet lovers, but this one is really good with many selections. I also love the CB which we normally do on our last day.

We ate at Cape May on the second night of our trip. Everyone loved it so much that we went back a second time. If you like peel and eat shrimp, mussels and clams you will love this place. My wife eats no seafood and she is very happy with the carving stations.

If you like Oreo's, you will love the Oreo bon-bon dessert.
