I don't seen many reviews of the Clam Bake Dinner Buffet at Cape May. I was wondering how it is? My husband and I were thinking about eating there in September and our ADR date is rapidly approaching.

So, for those who have eaten there: How is it? Would you recommend it?

Thanks!

We went in August and it was the BEST buffet I have ever eaten.

It will be a definite repeat for future visits.

There were so many yummy things I wanted to try that I couldn't even try everything I wanted - I was so stuffed.

DS and I loved the corn bread. I had a BUNCH of clams...some of the chowder...some salad....some pasta. Desserts were good too!

We ate there for the first time last month and really enjoyed it. Somehow we ended up getting picked for family of the day. The kids (DS 9 & DD 6) got to ring the bell to open the restaurant and we got a "special" table closest to the buffet.

The food was really good. Even though it is a clambake, they had a nice variety of non-seafood items to choose from. My daughter is a very picky eater and she found plenty of things that she liked. I liked everything I tried there and I tried A LOT. The downside is that I didn't have enough room to eat everything!

Cape May is going to be a stop for us on every trip. I would definitely recommend it. Enjoy!

We tried Cape May for the first time in Feb. My husband has decided this is a restaurant we will have to visit again our next trip! :) The food was very fresh and even as a vegetarian I felt like I had options. My husband and son found more than enough of both fish and meat to satisfy their hunger. And my husband LOVED their desserts. This was the first time that my son (14) tried crab legs and he loved them! The only thing he wished was that he had more time. :lmao:

Absolutely recommended! We ate there on our February trip. We had a lovely dinner with lots of great choices. We like both breakfast and dinner here.

For the kids, there are all the basics - chicken nuggets, corn, mashed potatoes, plus there is delicious ribs and chicken.

There are also carved meats and corn bread which is awesome.

The buffet is four sided and only one side is seafood. There are steamed mussels, clams, crab legs and one or two fish dishes steamed and breaded/fried.

Even the salad/fruit bar is really delicious. Great desserts - little cheesecakes, cookies, brownies, etc. Overall, we love this place the best and the atmosphere is really nice too.

Second best is Trail's End - just as delicious, but not as much variety at Cape May.

We have been there several times and last trip we went twice. We have always had above average service and love the atmosphere. The food is put out in smaller quanities so it is replenish often which equals hot and fresh. If you are an avid seafood eater than you will find that part to be just OK...not great but not bad either. When we have been they only had clams and muscles.....I hear that on occassion they have crab but I can't confirm. Anyway, the rest of the food is excellent and there is plenty of variety. I would recommend CMC to anyone.

I can't wait to go back. :goodvibes

Holy cow....edit ....we had crab the last time we were there. :scared1: It was the year before that they only had the clams and muscles.

I think that's confirmation that I have been to the world so many times, too many times, that I know can't remember what I did. It truely is a sickness.

It is fantastic, we have been there 6 times for dinner and loved it!

We went Dec 08 and they had the only fried fish I'd actually eat which is strange b/c I can't stand fish. DH wasn't that crazy about it b/c the seafood wasn't seasoned and he found just about everything too bland for his taste. It was fun going there but we won't be going again.

We really enjoyed it, and DH has a severe shellfish allergy!!!!!:rotfl:

The chef came out and walked him through the buffet line, and everyone there was nice!:thumbsup2

We were also chosen as the family of the day :) We booked a 5pm reservation there again this year in hopes that we might get chosen again! We have two boys aged 4 and 5 and when we asked them about eating at Cape May again they immediately told me that is where we get to ring the bell and sit at a special table...I'm trying to prepare them for not being the family of the day this year.

The food there was great as was the service. It's a definate do again for us :)

My DH and I ate there on our honeymoon and we loved it!

I love seafood and so does my husband, but he wasn't in too much of a seafood mood that night. Despite that he was able to eat plenty and left full.

When we were there in October, there were crab legs on the buffet. I know they are (or at least were) hit or miss.

This is one buffet we will be going back to again!

I know they used to have prime rib also, do they still carry this? Love that they added crab legs, might give it a try.

This caught my eye...

I was planning on trying it out as well for our upcoming trip.
Great post! Great reviews!

We love Cape May! It's my DH's favorite Disney restaurant, so we always eat there at least once during each trip. Come to think of it, we usually eat there at least twice. It's THAT good! :thumbsup2

We'll give another Thumbs up too!! We loved it so much that we are going again on our next trip and we're bring friends with us this time!!!

DH and I love Cape May. For a couple years (from about 2002-2004) it was a little iffy...BUT...over the past few visits we've loved it. Our last visit there was in December 2009, the crab legs were available and they were YUM!!! DH loved the clams as well. The ribs were just ok...kind of fatty and the sauce was a bit too overpowering. The baked chicken was good...I selected a chicken breast and it was very moist and well seasoned. The mashed potatoes are great too...they are red bliss smashed with garlic...very tasty.

Oh and their selection of salad and cold items is great too! There are a few different greens mixes offered...including a Caesar mix already mixed with tasty dressing and croutons. The salad add-ons are great too, always fresh. And last but not least...the peel and eat shrimp are great with the cocktail sauce...it has a great zing to it!

We'll be back in two weeks and this is one meal that I am really looking forward to. I HOPE the crab legs remain on the buffet!

We ate there in December and loved it! Can't wait to make a trip back there in August. :thumbsup2

Okay! You have definitely convinced me that Cape May is a must do! I'm salivating for crab legs and clams already!

Thank you all for the great reviews! It really helps in figuring out where to eat. It sounds wonderful!
