I've been to the Valley Forge convention the last couple years. I don't scrapbook often, but I go to pick up thinkgs I know I will eventually use.
I was wondering what the dates were for this year, so I googled and saw their convention is in Lancaster this year at teh end of July. There was also a show listed for July 13-14 at Valley Forge under "Scrapbook Expo". Is Scrapbook Expo a new show organizer? They had other locales listed, too.
Does anyone know why CKC is not doing the show at Valley Forge? That was so convenient for me to get to.

Scrapbook Expo is a different show organizer- we have a scrapbook expo here in Orlando, FL and CKC just started doing a show in Jacksonville. There are normmally less class choices at Scrapbook Expo but in FL the vendor fair is better at Scrapbook Expo. Scrapbook Expo also does all day crops in a room beside the vendor fair so you can leave all your stuff there and go shopping.

The Valley Forge Convention Center has been undergoing renovations since Fall 2011. I don't think anything is "officially on the calendar" there yet.

CKC will be in Lancaster this year.. http://www.scrapandpapercorner.com/events/ckc/lancaster/index.html

@Valley Forge last year they announced that it wouldn't be at that hotel anymore. That hotel was going to be renovated, and I think they said it was going to become a casino. They said they would look for somewhere nearby to hold it. I think a lot of folks come from the surrounding area - NY, NJ, DE, MD, PA -- so I wonder if it will make much of a difference.

I did Scrapbook Expo in FL last year -- they seem smaller, but a lot of the same vendors and teachers come out..

I think it's definitely because of the casino going in and whatever renovations they are doing. Last year seemed a bit shaky when the delayed registration and the rumor last year at CKC was that this year it would be in Lancaster. It was Jan 9th when I noticed they listed the convention center it would be in. I reserved a room but it'll be interesting to see how it goes being there. The one thing that may shake things up is when I made the hotel reservation the lady mentioned that there is a fee for parking.

I will admit that I will miss the extra 'shopping' $$$ that will go for a hotel room instead of just camping out at my sisters. :)

The Lancaster Convention Center is in the city of Lancaster so parking is really limited.

I'm really excited to go! It's local to me and it'll be my first time seeing the inside of convention center- They actually used the facade of the old Watt and Shand. It took a long time to build but brought a lot of life to that area of the city.

This will be my first CKC. Can't wait!!! :yay:
