Citypass v. Sightseeing pass

We're taking the kids to NYC over MLK weekend and they've never been before so I want to do a bunch of touristy things with them. At first I was going to do a citypass, but for about the same $$ I can do a few more things with the sightseeing pass, plus they have their hop on hop off bus. Anyone have experience with either or both? I guess I just want to confirm that the sightseeing pass is all it's cracked up to be! Our hotel is the next block over from ESB if that helps (definitely on our itinerary) and kids are 5 and almost 9.
