City Walk Hours

In the process of getting serious about planning my trip and was looking at USH hours and on the City Walk website it says the hours for City Walk on May 31st are from 11am-8pm. Does City Walk really close that early? 8pm seems kind of too early to be closing, even on a Thursday.

Whoa, those hours seem a little strange and I had the same reaction as you did and thought to myself, "that can't be true". After some browsing on the Citywalk site, I saw this in the FAQ:

Universal CityWalk's hours of operation vary at different times for the year.

For the most up-to-date hours, visit the CityWalk Hours page.

Hours reflected are minimum operating hours for all CityWalk businesses with the exception of night clubs. Retailers, Restaurants and Clubs may choose to open earlier or stay open later. Please check with the individual establishment for exact operating hours.

I think the key phrase is "minimum operating hours". I think that's a good sign that many shops and restaurants will probably be open later than 8pm. In fact, I'm pretty sure most of the sit down restaurants (e.g. Bubba Gump, Hard Rock Cafe) will be open later than 8pm. And there's no way the movie theater is closing at 8pm. In fact, I'm going to guess that you'll find quite a bit still open if you're there past 8.

Anyway, good luck with the rest of your trip planning! The Transformers Ride should be open by that week. Woo-hoo!

Most of the stores close at 8PM. Restaurants usually stop serving between 9 and 10, the bars between midnight and 1AM (on weekdays) and the last movie usually starts around 10PM.

I used to work at the Hard Rock up there and unless things have changed THAT much, the HRC would normally not close the kitchen till about 10:30-11pm. It would be later on the weekends. And I think most other restaurants were close to that. Stores did close earlier though.

Thanks guys! I love City Walk and with USH closing at 6pm I'd like some time to wander around City Walk and shop and eat. DD's BFF will be joining us and it's her first time to CA and will only be her 3rd plane trip. She's never even been anywhere other than New England and WDW so I want her to enjoy!
