Hi everyone,
This is probably a silly question, but I could use some clarification.
We're headed over to your coast in Fall and were looking at buying the Southern California City Pass so we can do the first half of the trip at Disneyland and then head down the coast to visit Legoland and Sea World.

I've read that you can upgrade the Disneyland portion and add additional days, but just need to do so before the last day you visit Disneyland.

If we upgrade, we'd still be left with the Legoland and Sea World portions right (and have up 14 days from first use of the pass to use them right??) It's looking like it would be about an additional $40 per person for the extra day Disneyland upgrade.

I guess I'm just trying to figure out if they take your original pass and issue you a new one, or just give you a one day ticket or how the upgrade itself works if you have remaining dates for other parks to use.

Also, it looks like the prices are going up. Do we probably want to snag these tickets online asap or wait until we get there?

My understanding with the citypass (which I have never personally used) was when you activated the ticket they issued you a seperate disneyland ticket for entry and fastpasses. Any upgrade would alway leave you other entries untouched.

Thanks, that's where I found the original upgrade info.

Thanks....I'm pretty much assuming this is the way the upgrade works but just don't want a surprise if it doesn't since we're doing Disneyland for the first half of our trip.

As far as Disney is concerned, you have a discounted 3 day hopper ticket.

If you want another day they will credit you what the ticket is worth, and you can pay whatever is the going rate for the extra day. Because your ticket is discounted because it's a city pass, you may pay more than what you expect to get the extra day.

I did city pass 3 years ago, and when I got to Disneyland they did give me normal Disneyland 3 day hopper tickets, one for each in our party. I wasn't sure if that is how they still do it, so I didn't mention it above, but going on their site, it looks like that is still what they do.
They told us to keep the city pass ticket since we would still need it when we went to legoland and sea world. I didn't upgrade an extra day at DL, so I can't tell you about that, but since you get the separate 3 day hopper ticket, my guess is if you add a day, they just would add that day to your 3 day hopper ticket.

When my DH and I went in 2014, we weren't given separate tickets. We used the actual citypass to enter the parks and get our FP's.
We are headed to DL in a week and will be adding a day to our city passes. I will comment then about what happens!

Ok so here is what they do. They wiped the 3 days off our citypass tickets and gave us 4 day paper tickets. The cost was $40 for the upgrade. So a 4 day hopper is $335 and they gave us $295 credit towards that.
