Hi

We are thinking about this for our anniversary meal. Any comments on this restaurant would be welcomed :D

I've eaten there on two occassions and Citricos is one of my favorite restaurants anywhere. Having dined in Cities such as Boston, New York, Los Angeles and Monteal I've sampled many types of fine cuisine. Citricos is excellent IMO.

The meals are expensive, Meditteranean inspired fare. Everything I've tried has been prepped and presented well and the service has been wonderful ... from bar to table.

The front room, surrounded by windows, faces the Lagoon and you can see the MK fireworks from there. This was an unexpected surprize on my first visit. There is a bit of noise from the open prep kitchen. The wait staff appears to work both Citricos and Victoria & Alberts dining areas.

Some of the things I've tried include:

Citripolitan cocktail
Mussels with polenta "fries" appetizer
Warm onion tart appetizer - fabulous!
Six hour braised veal shank - a signature dish
Lamb chops with braised greens and white beans
Citrus and berry semi-freddo
Trio of homemade sorbets

I was not terribly impressed with Citrico's on our last visit to WDW. I had had great expectations walking in, but left feeling let down.

The decor and atmosphere of the restaurant is great. Using the open kitchen and light colors, the restaurant has a very relaxing feel to it.

My problems with the restaurant were with food and service.

The food seemed uninspired. It seemed as though the Chef had a bit of difficulty in creating dishes that reflected the style of cuisine (the Chef at Citrico's has since changed). Don't misunderstand me. The food was good, but not on par with California Grill or Flying Fish.

The service was downright bad. Our server just had that 'I don't want to be here look and attitude'. Took us quite a bit of time to locate him whenever we needed something.

Our favorite restaurants are Flying Fish and California Grill. For an anniversary dinner, I'd have to lean toward Flying Fish. It's smaller and a bit quiter. You could also drop the wad and go to Victoria & Alberts. Well worth the money. Happy eating.

Thank you Margie and Funky lamb for your opinions.

We did V & A for our wedding dinner two years ago, DH would like to give this a try :D

I'm in agreement w/ margie. Citrico's is one of my favorite spots and I can recommend the paprika and Honey marinated Pork tenderloin!!
They also have a fine wine list and wine pairings to go along w/ your meal.
Actually, the wait staff at Citricos and V&A are different. What Margie probably saw was the wait staff from V&A getting mixed drinks and/or beer from the bar at Citrico's. I don't believe V&A has it's own bar--just it's own wine area.
But do try it--I think you will be pleased.

Citrico's wasn't bad. However, for the price, I'd rather eat at the California Grill. I also had a server that didn't want to be there. The food wasn't anything outstanding - no better than Le Cellier, as far as I'm concerned, only double the price. I would eat there again since I won't make a judgment based on one sub-par experience. Give it a try. The food wasn't BAD, it was just BLAH and the service was - well - BLAH, too!

Day THREE: Chefs de France and Citricos (GF)

This restaurant was rated #2 to the Fish on my 2000 trip but SOARED to #1 last year leaving the Fish to flop back to #4 after Artist Point and Jiko.

The Chef Gray is WONDERFUL!!!!! The food is inspired. It was so good it made me CRY! It was that good. Really.

The service was fantastic (ask for Sam if he is there) and a truly magical experience. I can not rant more about how incredible Citricos is and how far it has come.

If you don't believe me, trust the Orlando Sentinal:

We just ate there a coupole of weeks ago, and I wrote a dining review on these boards which was posted yesterday.

We LOVED this restaurant, the food was good and service was excellent.
