Citricos or Narcoossee's?

My 45th birthday will be spent at WDW, and I want to have a night out with my DH to celebrate. We will be staying at Poly so I thought we'd put the Kids (8 & 6) in Neverland Club and go out for the evening. Since its an easy jaunt on the monorail to GF I thought either of these two would be nice. Any thoughts or should I try somewhere else?

I went to Narcoosee's for my 35th in October and thought it was very good. We were happy that we went there, and they even gave me a personalized menu and customized my dessert for me.

I can't compare it to Citricos though, we only celebrated my birthday once at Narcoosee's. Hopefully someone else can share what happened there to help you.

Thanks for the feedback, Tricia. I love lobster so I'm leaning that way.

Also sorry to whoever had to move my post...I realized right after I pushed submit that I was in the wrong forum.

Staying at the PR it would be relaxing to go to one of the monorail resorts for Dinner. Out of the group it would be Citricos, V&A or California Grill. You can also walk to and from the Poly and GF which might be a nice stroll depending on the weather and crowds.

Out of the two you mentioned I would select Citrico's...its been a while since we ate at Narcoosee's. We found a more refined dining experience (service/food preparation) and preferred the menu choices...personal preference.

We're struggling with this same dilemma :headache:

We enjoyed Narcoossee's very much. Be sure you let them know when you make your reservations that you are celebrating your birthday. You'll get a menu with your name on it and probably a free desert.

BTW, you might consider just walking from the Poly to the GF. Its a short walk and very romantic at night.

Citricos definitely has a much more sophisticated menu and atmosphere (although I have never had a dessert at Citricos that I thought compared equally to the other courses). Narcoosees, while okay, has not been special in any of the 3 times I've dined there. At Narcoosees you will have many families with children, it has the feel of a nice family restaurant. Not "upscale" at all. Also, seafood is much better at bluezoo or even Flying Fish.

So out of the two you were looking at, I would most definitely pick Citricos.

Tough question. Narcoossee's is a fantastically pretty space. But I've never had a seriously good meal there. I haven't been there in a year or two and I've heard good things about it lately. I'll have to give it a try. Citrico's, I can tell you, is very good. We've never had a bad meal there. I wouldn't put it quite as high as Flying Fish, Jiko or California Grill....but it's very good. If you do wind up going to Narcoossee's, report back!!

We have dines at Narcoosee's once 2 years ago and we loved it.The food was great (we both had surf and turf) and the view was amazing. We are giving it a try again in June. Since then we have dined at Citricos 2 times. Once just Dh and I and once with family. Both times we were unforunately unimpressed. I truly disliked my food and for me that hardly ever happens at wdw:rotfl: Dh and my brother did better liking their dishes however, my mother felt the same way I did. I know some people like Citricos and I will say the interior is beautiful.

I planned the same thing for our 1 vacation date night in April, we're also staying at the Poly. DS will be going to the Neverland Club & I made an ADR for Mom & Dad at Citricos, mainly because the menu was more appealing & it seems like it'd be more "adult" (as opposed to "family.") Never eaten at either place before.

We ate dinner at both on our trip this last December...

Citrico's is my hands down choice... execellent food, service, deserts, and drinks. The atmosphere is sophisticated and quiet, plenty of room between tables.

Narcoossee's food was OK but our biggest complaint was the ultra slow service. We were there an hour and 20 minutes before our entree came (we were seated when they opened at 5:30 PM so it's not like they were already very busy). Other tables around us were getting the same slow service. My DW and I were passing time joking about the cobwebs growing on the elderly couple at the next table. After 2 hours we didn't have time for desert because we were trying to get to the MK to see Wishes. Not what I would call a great dining experience at around $100 for 2 people.

Citricos! We ad Thanksgiving dinner there in 2004 and had a wonderful time. We actually preferred that over V&A's. And our server was Nancy and she was wonderful!!

Thanks so much for all the feedback...finally did the booking today and couldn't get the exact dates I wanted. We're going the start of Dec. We had planned to stay at Poly for 5 nights then move to AKL for 3 but have ended up doing it the other way around. Now I'll be at AKL for my actual birthday...so now I have to decide Jiko or wait a couple of days and go with my original choices. Decisions...decisions??

Again I haven't been to Citricos, (but the reviews sound wonderful)

In a coin toss between Narcoosee's and Jiko - Jiko wins over Narcoosee's by FAR! Love, Love, Love Jiko. Narcoosee's was nice, but Jiko is where I am going back to this trip (after doing both Narcoosee's and Jiko last trip)

Hmmm...my DH & I have "romantic" ressies for Narcoossee's in June, but now I'm second-guessing them!?!? :confused3

I can't remember how the two menu's differ, I just knew DH would appreciate Narcoossee's a little more. DH is rather picky, & doesn't have an extremely sophisticated palate.

sidenote--We also have ressies at LeCellier, so we'll be having steak, and Coral Reef, so we'll be having seafood. Hmmm...decisions, decisions...

Thank goodness I don't have to make a final choice for a few months (we go in Dec) but so far this has been the hardest decision I had to make. Choosing resorts etc. was no problem. I suggested LeCellier to DH since it has such good write up, but he thought I was crazy...why would Canadians eat in Canada was his reply!! Anyways I'm glad to hear the positive write ups of Jiko it sounds like a great choice...I'd really like to eat out on my actual birthday...and best of all the kids can go to Simba Club!

Narcoossee's is our favorite of ALL Disney reataurants! We have been going there for years, and everytime we have been thrilled!!!

The food is very very good, and is of a high quality. The service has always been top notch for us, and the view is wonderful if you could snag a table by a window.

We usually order either the Whole Maine Lobster or the Surf n Turf for our entrees. They are terrific, and we love seafood!

I would not hesitate to recommend Narcoossee's to anyone. I am sure you would not be disappointed!

Yippeeeeee!!!!! I'm keepin' my ressies there, then! The surf n turf sounds amazing, and I cannot wait to watch the fireworks. We have 7pm ADR, so I hope that's a good time! Thanks, Jess20K!

Hands down, Narcoossee's. The last time I was there was for my Birthday this May and it was EXCELLENT! Possibly the best meal I've ever had. While we were waiting to be seated we went outside on the water and got to watch a water parade which was adorable. Then, right before our meal the lights dimmed and music started to play along to the Magic Kingdom fireworks. It was perfect! I highly recommend it. The food was excellent too!
