Are Citricos and California Grill adult only? They both sound really good but are kids out of place here?

I dined at the California Grill on my last trip and it was great. I did see kids there, but I found the atmosphere and dining selection more along the lines for adults.

Both welcome children, but the kids might feel at hom at the CG. It's a loud, bustling place with that great view of the Seven Seas Lagoon. I've seen children at Citricos, but it's much more adult and quiet. I'd take kids only if I knew they'd be well-behaved.

We took our DD (then 14 months) who is quite well behaved to the CG for dinner in May. Their were many kids in our area, maybe 8 in total, although I believe they put the families with children in one area together. It's not like it was beside the kitchen though or anything, we had a great view of the fireworks from our table. The server was very understanding of our daughter, brought her food early, told me not to clean up when she dropped some pasta (which I did anyway), etc. It is an adult restaurant but you needn't feel embarassed if you take a child – it is Disney after all and both guests and servers expect to see children around. The other guests were quite charmed by DD and several talked to her, she and one little boy about 7 or so fell in love with one another and she keep turning around and waving at him – made his and his parents evening. If you go with a young child, just observe the common rules of etiquette and leave if your DD or DS starts to disturb other patrons. We loved it, have fun!

As long as the children are well behaved, by all means take them to the CG. You'll see a lot of families three.

I wouldn't take even a well behaved child to Citrico though. The meal and service is leisurely, and just not condusive to taking kids still in single digits. It's a very quiet atmosphere, and yes, although there is a kids menu, I feel that they aren't exactly overjoyed to see them there.

I second ducklite. I wouldn't want to see single-digit kids at Citricos either.

Every time we've had dinner at Citrcos and CG we've seen young children. Since neither one is a fast food kind of place;) , I would not take a child who could not sit through a meal of at least an hour. You can have a fine meal at either in that time if you eliminate a course or two.

My favorite memory of Citricos was Christmas Eve 2002. The place was packed....as Citricos deserves to be....and there were many families with children of all ages dressed in their Christmas finery. I would like to always see Citricos that busy.::yes::

Been to both multiple times and have always seen kids at both. However, CG does seem more "favorable" for kids as it is relatively noisy/busy to begin with. So any kid-type chatter, etc is better absorbed. In addition, I think more kids do CG as the fireworks are something of an added attraction.

kpossible -

We took our DD3 to Citricos and had a lovely evening. The trick is to bring lots of things to keep little ones busy. (I've never understood parents who bring kids to restaurants and then expect them to sit there with nothing to do:) ! The night in question, I brought a bag full of stickers, autograph book, coloring book and several other activities and DD ate as the food came out between working on her projects. I realize this doesn't work for every child but it always has for us. My girls (2 and 4 now) have both been to many nice restaurants. They know that mommy always brings fun things to work on at the table and they know to use inside voices and use nice manners. (They are NOT perfect children, don't get me wrong, but they like to "get to go" and have learned that we'll bring them along if they are well behaved).

If you do bring children, just be sure and bring things for them to do - it will make the meal much more enjoyable for you as well as for the diners around you. GF gift shop has several items that I'm sure any child would love during dinner (sticker packs, coloring books, etc.) have fun!

Wow, this is good to know. I always thought that CG was more quiet and adults only. I still think we will wait a couple years until our DD is a little older (she is 3 now).
