Citibank and the banker who ordered TWO sandwiches?!

No comment on the expense issue.... but he should be embarrassed for ordering a Bologn-"aise"! What the heck is that?!?! Sounds AWFUL......

It's a pasta sauce, like a red sauce but creamier. If you are referring to the spelling, I believe that's just regional - Bolognese vs. Bolognaise.

Bolognaise is the French spelling of Bolognese. Both spellings are used in English. It is a specific kind of meat sauce. I would assume it was on some sort of pasta because the other pasta had pesto sauce on it.

It isn't a loop hole though. They did something wrong.
It’s a sandwich. I can promise you that there were other issues. It isn’t a loop hole it’s likely justified under their policy but pretty petty if the employe was productive and worth retaining

It wasn't about the sandwich. It was about repeated denials and being dishonest.

HR is a slippery slope and sometimes you need to grab onto technical violations that occur to accomplish a task that is more subjective in nature

Very possibly if the guy was a "super star", he'd get a slap on the wrist and told "don't do it again". However, if just a run of the mill employee, since this is an indicator of his ethics, could be used as an "excuse" to let him go.

BUT, he has no one to blame but himself. Let's say he KNEW he shouldn't have submitted the receipt for two meals. Once caught... "oops, I'm sorry, I just did it out of habit. I'll reimburse you." If he didn't KNOW, you have the same line. Trying to argue about it is just not a good look.

No Italian would ever spell Bolognese with "-aise"! And neither should a French person! That would be like going to a french restaurant in the US and ordering Steak and Fries 😂 . And if you see it spelled with an "-aise" on a menu, run don't walk.....
(I'm being mildly sarcastic, but it's France's way of slapping Italians in the face ...has anyone ever had a bearnese sauce with their filet? Probably not)
