Citi extra cash

Does anyone here have a Citi card and use the extra cash? I didn't chose for my card to have this feature but I now have over $500 of Citi cash. All the stuff you can redeem it for is a rip-off, a few dollars off overpriced stuff. I am thinking about getting some gift cards since they are 10% off and I am going on a Carnival cruise I could use the gift cards to pay for it. I'm going to call Carnival tomorrow to get the details but was wondering if anyone here has experience with buying from Citi extra cash. If so how long did it take to get to you? And if you got a gift card is it a regular gift card or a voucher of some kind? TYIA

I have it but I haven't used it yet, and have over $250 that I'm afraid I might never use. I wish it was like my other rewards cards where I could redeem for FREE stuff, not %10 off a gift card. I so far haven't found anything to spend on. I'm probably going on a spring break cruise with carnival, so thanks for the suggestion maybe I'll look into getting gift cards.

The "GC" from Thank You Network (Citi also) for Carnival wasn't a real giftcard. I can't remember all the details on it, but it was more like a timeshare gc. It had to be a new booking at full rate or something insane like that. I complained and got my points back.

(not that you shouldn't try, it has been a couple of years, maybe they have fixed it)

I just don't want to pay $90 for it and not be able to use it at all. This program is the WORST! My other Citi card gives me American airline miles which at least is something I want to use!

Ask to switch your card to a thank you card, I think mine is a diamond rewards card? You can get target and sunoco giftcards with your points.

And I know this isn't a Carnival board, but look into future cruiser certificates on your next trip. For $100, you get a $100 gc that gives a bonus $100 in obc for a 7 day cruise. Pay $100, get $200, that is my kind of gc

oh I'm going to see if they will switch me to thank you points instead, thanks for the suggestion I'd rather get free for spending money. Otherwise, when my interest free year was up (that is the only reason we got the card) I was going to cancel it since the rewards sucked compared to discover, disney visa, and chase freedom that we already have.
