Hello All -

We are getting into MCO at 11am on 9/20, and DH really wants to see Cirque du Soleil... so I was thinking of giving him tickets for a birthday present. The question I have is, I would prefer the 6pm show - but do you think that would push it time wise since you can't check in till 4pm? I don't know how early you have to be at the show, or how long the bus will take from CBR to DTD. There is a 9pm show the same day - but I am worried that it will make for such a long day (since we would have been up since 5am that morning). Any thoughts??

Thanks in advance!

I never book events like this on our first day as I'm not willing to take the chance we might miss the event and waste our money if travel plans go wrong. You never know if you might encounter a delay in your flight.

The seats are reserved, so there's really no reason to be there 2 hours before. Just try to make sure you get seated a little before 6:00.

We ended our last trip with La Nouba and I think it's a great way to end a trip.

Very good point.. but it looks like they are not performing 9/21-9/27 - which is the rest of our stay.

We were planning on being there abut 5:30 or so- but I don't know how long the buses take from CBR. Also, if we aren't able to check in till 4pm will that push the time limits?

A few weeks ago my answer would have been "Sure, go to the 6:00 show. You'll have plenty of time!" That was before my recent trip to Las Vegas, where we had tickets for the 7:00 show of Mystere (Cirque). Our flight out of New Orleans was cancelled at the last minute. We were rescheduled on a later flight that connected in Chicago :confused3 (original flight went thru DFW) and got us to Vegas at 4:30 (instead of 1:00). We took a cab (quickest way) from the airport, got to the hotel by 5:00, luckily checked in very quickly, hurriedly showered and dressed, and made it just in time. It made for a very stressful trip! I would say do the late show, but I don't know how long of a traveling day you would have had or how late you like to stay up. You would most probably have no problem getting to the early show barring something like a cancelled flight. But by all means, GO SEE CIRQUE DU SOLEIL!!! Have a great trip!

Thanks for the input - I really want to surprise him with the tickets.... I have heard the show is great! We will be up at 5am, and should be in Orlando by 11am, but won't be able to check into CBR until 4pm. So I know 6pm might be pushing it... but I am worried that we will be exhausted come 9pm ...:confused3

I just booked tickets for La Nouba during our August trip...somewhere along the line I remember being advised to get there early for a " pre-show" performance (about 5:30)...so I would say be sure to allow time for this if you can. I have not seen the show, but my parent have, and they thought it was so compelling that they actually paid for our tickets - they did not want our girls to miss the opportunity. So if that is the only day you can go - definitely do it, but choose the show time which won't add stress to your arrival. (I am a bit of a worrier, so I would leave a cushion which would allow for all kinds of minor disasters ...and from what I have heard, the show is pretty mesmerizing - not likely to put you to sleep even if tired...but could you catch a nap while traveling?)

I hope you can manage one of them and that it all works out! :goodvibes

With air travel the way it these days (1/2 of flights are delayed 15 mins, 1/3 30 mins, 1/10 over 1 hour) you might be pushing it a bit if you have anything else you want to do the first day. If your just doing things around your resort and Downtown Disney you should be OK. Anything else that day and you will really be pressed for time for transits and then getting to your room to unpack.

It's doable but you will have to be flexable and what you can get done on your first day. Just keep your fingers crossed on the arrival time.

This may be something you already know, but just in case: You can "check-in" earlier than 4:00, but your room may not be ready. I would pack a couple of items you'd need in your carry-on or on the top of your suitcase to freshen up. That way, even if your room isn't ready before you'd want to leave for the show, you could run to the bathroom and change clothes/freshen up. And, the earlier you check in, you could be surprised and have a room ready to go. Except for flight issues (or lost luggage - here's hoping it doesn't happen to you! pixiedust: ), you should have time to make it happen.

It is a show worth seeing, so surprise your hubby and have fun. :cool1:

I just thought of something else - as the other posters said, you can check in earlier, so even if your room isn't ready, maybe you could go down and spend a few hours on a lounge at the pool and relax, have a nap there, so you wouldn't be as tired - then catching the late show wouldn't be so bad, and it would (hopefully) give you a cushion in case of flight delays...and I have to admit, no matter how great the show, I would be a bit reluctant to spend for those tickets if I had any concerns about making it to Disney on time...

The way the airlines are changing flights. Nope, no way. Those tickets are to expensive to miss the show.

Ok.. so it looks like the 6pm might really be pushing it.... Thank you all for your feedback and opinions.

What is your take on the 9pm show? I know it will make for a long day, but if we go and take a nap after checking in then have grab some coffee it might work??

Thoughts? :confused3

If you arrive at 11am, the 6pm show would be fine. Your seats are preassigned so you really don't have to arrive but 30 minutes early if you want to see the preshow..which is fantastic.

Get tickets to the early show, have an early dinner at House of Blues (right beside the theater) and enjoy your day!

We ended up going to the 6 pm show on our first day just a few weeks ago. Our flight arrived at 9am (we had been up since 3am) and we were checked into our room at Pop by 1pm. CBR is very close to DTD. We were not sure about the buses so we did take a taxi and it only cost about $10. It was also storming badly so it was nice the taxi dropped us off right in front.

They are reserved seats so you do not have to get there super early. It was a great show and a great way to start the vacation!

I was thinking the same thing... I know "if" I get in on time and "if" I get to check in earlier than 4pm, then making the 6pm won't be an issue. And odds are things would be fine... but I don't know how much time I need to add into the equation for DTD bus, and any delays... So, the 9pm might work better (if we are able to chill at the pool and take naps earlier in the day)?

I am truly torn... and since we didn't get the opportunity to see the show last year (they were off for the week) and our only day to catch it is 9/20 I definately want to get tickets... oh, the decisions...

Thank you for sharing your experience... and I agree, a great way to start our vacation! :thumbsup2

This is exactly what we are doing on our arrival day. We are driving so the time factor is not as debatable. House of Blues is a must and we cannot wait for 9/13.

Thanks for your feedback! I am thinking that we "should" have plenty of time for the 6pm.. But, if I factor in possible delays, and not being able to check in until 4pm then the 9pm show might work better.... still gotta think on this one... :confused3

Okay.. I thought for sure if I slept on this one I would know which show tickets to buy... but nope.... so does anyone have any more insight or feedback for me?

What do you think? 6pm or 9pm show if arriving at 11am into Orlando and can't check into CBR until 4pm.....

I'd do 9:00 just to be safe. You can rest after you get to the resort -- whether you have a room or not. The show is wonderful -- we've seen it 2x -- but the tickets are too expensive to risk not getting to the 6:00 show. There are lots of thunderstorms in September that cause delays with air.
