Circumpolar Race Around the World (CRAW)

Week 31 Update
It was eventually going to happen, but our streak of 400+ miles per week came to an end. We completed 367 miles last week (which is still good given that our average is about 373 miles and we were one person down last week). It is amazing what we can do when we are at full force.

As for milestones this past week:
  • Completed 75% of Antarctica and Region 4 (3/30)
  • @Dopey 2020 crossed the 1,500 mile mark for CRAW (3/31)
At the end of Sunday, we were 2,792 miles into Antarctica, and the prediction models are showing that we should finish Region 4 next week between 4/13 & 4/15. We had a CRAW total of 11,571 miles completed, and for the entire CRAW, the prediction model is showing about 1 year 6.5 months total based on our average daily team mileage (53.6 miles/day).

Have a great week!

Weeks 33 & 34 Update
Once again... a little delayed in my updates, so I'll combine the last two weeks; however, I will blame it on a long-lasting "I can't believe we are finally off Antarctica" party hangover. Yes! We did it!! We completed Antarctica (Region 4) and moved on to Australia (Region 5).

It seemed that all of us took at little party break as we only had about 357 miles during our transition week between the two regions (I guess there also could have been a little jetlag from our flight from Antarctica to Australia, or would that be boatlag if we took a ship?). In any case, we picked it up again last week and completed 405 miles.

As for milestones during these past two weeks:
  • Completed Antarctica and Region 4 and started Australia and Region 5 (4/15)
  • Crossed 40% of total CRAW mileage (4/15)
  • @kbenson13 crossed the 500-mile mark for CRAW (4/15)
  • For the second region in a row, @Dopey 2020 started the region off right... at WDW
At the end of Sunday, we were 624 miles into Region 5 (Australia), and the prediction models are showing that we should finish Region 5 between 5/31 & 6/4 depending on whether you use our Region 5 average daily mileage (57.4 miles per day) or our overall CRAW average daily mileage (53.6 miles per day). We had a CRAW total of 12,699 miles completed, and for the entire CRAW, the prediction model is showing about 1 year 6.5 months total based on our average daily team mileage.

Keep up the motivation!

Wow!!! Great job this past week. We completed 458 miles last week. Not only is this our fourth week in a row over 400 miles, but this is our biggest mileage week so far for Region 5 and our 2nd biggest mileage week of all time. As for milestones this past week:

  • @opusone completed his first in-person race in over a year and a half (Chicagoland Spring Half Marathon) - was 75-80° during the race with 70% humidity, but thankfully the cloud cover stayed for the entire race. No PR, but still a respectable 1:45:28 official time.
